Product Manager

Our client is a global organization that has consistently demonstrated market leadership it the broadcast, television and film industry.  If you're watching the news, a sporting event or a feature film, you're experiencing our client's products.  The company's technology has won Emmy awards and their customer list includes the largest broadcast media, film and entertainment companies in the world.  This position is located in Northern CA about 1 hour North and East of Sacramento, CA -- in the Sierra Nevada foothills.The company will provide relocation benefits for strong candidates willing to move to this semi-rural environment that provides a high quality of life.   Position DescriptionThe Product Manager will be part of the Video Switching product line team with responsibility for an exciting new product line and their integration.  In addition, the Product Manager will assist in defining the market specifications for peripheral product support across product lines.  The new product affords the ability to edit and display 2D and 3D animated elements along with enhanced DVE (Digital Video Editing) capabilities in a new workflow process controlled from the switcher control panel.  It includes a software package that enables importing animations from traditional 3D animation software.  In short, this new product is a real-time graphics rendering machine with DVE capability.   This position will have a significant impact on business unit P&L performance for their assigned product.  This product line is targeted for growth, therefore this position will require the ability to think strategically and constantly push the product and solution envelope.  Must be able to conceive of new product ideas and ways to improve our customer's workflow outside the traditional paradigms.Primary Responsibilities:- Product line management - overall product development schedule through product lanch and complete product lifecycle.- Market research, customer requirements, product specifications, pricing/cost analysis and competitive analysis- Development of product/system definitions, model numbers, pricing and high level bill of materials- Beta and pilot program implemenation and coordination- Product launch program coordination with Sales and Marketing- Sales force training including including TSS group on new and enchanced products including system description and packaging, model numbers, pricing, application, and product positioning The position requires an understanding of strategic roadmap planning, business plan development, market research, competitive analysis, customer needs analysis including price and feature comparison, detailed product specifications, pricing, business justification, production planning, forecasting, tactical launch plans, product evangelism -- internally and externally, collateral development in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications organization, sales training, and tradeshow report.  Average travel will be 15-25%, but there may be periods of 50% travel to support multiple sites, market research, customer visits, sales training and tradeshows. Requirements:- Bachelor's Degree (MBA preferred), Technology or Equivalent Experience- 5 years experience as a Product Manager, Product Marketing Manager (PMI certification preferred)- Demonstrated success defining and lanuching excellent products with financial success- Technical background, with experience in the Broadcast Market  -- Graphics and/or DVE environment/design/specifications and knowledge of traditional 3D animation tools and industry standard software (Autodesk; MAYA; Avid Softimage, etc.) preferred.  Or, Video Gaming Market experience- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Excellent teamwork skills, proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority- Experience utilizing office report and working tools (Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Project, etc.) - Examples of at least one effective documents delivered in the past
