PROJECTS DIRECTOR - Working for a global media company you will take direct accountability for the management and delivery of specific cross functional, high impact, high risk, high complexity projects, as well as advising and mentoring the Project Managers. Candidates require substantial proven experience in project management managing large, complex, cross functional project budgets in excess of $10m.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITES: Define and document the project scope, project targets/objectives and high level project plans to translate desired business benefits into clear and achievable project objectives. Prepare overall project resourcing and contingency plans to ensure effective individual project resourcing to meet all of the project objectives/goals in all likely circumstances. Propose, negotiate terms and monitor and forecast project revenue and costs within budget limits to ensure delivery to target. Lead and direct project teams comprising internal, contracted and third party resource to maximise effectiveness to deliver projects to time, cost and quality targets. Analyse and provide status information on project progress against plan to highlight key issues requiring inter/cross functional resolution and to maintain senior management confidence in project management and delivery. Provide mentoring support to specific Project Managers, giving developmental, counselling and advisory support appropriate to their stage of development. Continuously review the scope for improvement in project management processes and project performance, drawing out lessons learned and recommend changes where necessary, ensuring that motivation and a drive for excellence are built into the project management process. Lead the drive to ensure quality standards are set an appropriate levels, with consideration given to both cost and service levels in order to achieve the desired competitive advantage. Evaluate risk probability and impact; develop and implement quality and risk management plans for minimizing impact on project objectives and deliverables.  Meet budgets and create opportunities to increase project revenue and profitability; participate in proposal and budget development, evaluate feasibility of potential programs and impact on company operations and goals. Meet project plan timeframes and schedule/milestones for all phases of the project lifecycle. Serve as primary project contact with the Customer to ensure appropriate communication channels are maintained and reporting schedules adhered to.CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION: Substantial proven experience in project management managing large, complex, cross functional project budgets in excess of $10m.  Experience of all stages from testing out conceptual ideas, working up and presenting the business case through to the delivery of projects and post implementation reviews. Track record of leading and delivering projects in fast paced, rapidly developing organisations operating in turbulent markets. A proven track record of managing the revenue of a project from invoice to payment. Proven high order of leadership ability illustrated by consistently putting together and inspiring teams to achieve exceptional results. Skilled in rapidly bringing on less experienced project managers, giving them appropriate advice and guidance to ensure their swift development. Depth of experience in using various project management techniques, methodologies and associated tools in a manner sensitive to organisational culture. Thorough knowledge of business dynamics demonstrated by ability to understand impacts and dependencies of projects managed. Demonstrate high levels of influencing ability and communications skills at range people from different professional backgrounds up to and including board level within large organisation. Politically astute manager of change used to facilitation, broking and selling ideas and co-opting others to achieve goals. Strong problem modelling and solving capabilities. Financially aware with strong budgeting and control skills.
