POSITION TITLE: Database Administrator

 

LOCATION: Flower Mound, TX

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

This position reports to the Division Database Manager. It has no supervisory responsibilities. It has frequent contact with all business units, other departments, management and vendors.

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The primary purpose of this position is to plan, develop, implement and maintain all internal SQL databases for the Time Warner Cable, Southwest Division.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1. Design, implement and maintain the Division**s internal database for various management and operational purposes, using Microsoft SQL.

2. Develop database templates and flowcharts.

3. Performs data mining and data extract from other database sources and reports.

4. Perform administration of database servers and related equipment.

5. Maintain and ensure database integrity, including backup functions.

6. Integrate the databases with the various web sites. Automate report generations and data retrieval.

7. Responsible for assigned ad-hoc projects as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A four year bachelor degree in Information Systems or Computer Science is required. Requires a minimum of two years of experience in database management, including programming and development of Microsoft SQL 2005. Related certifications helpful.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines is essential.

2. Aptitude to learn new systems and new technology. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

3. The position requires a mature and responsible individual with strong initiative, analytical skills and judgment to independently handle assignments.

4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel in writing, in-person, and via telephone.

5. Must be detail oriented with a proven record of accuracy and thoroughness in all projects.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:

1. Ability to sit at a desk for an extended period of time.

2. Ability to look at and work on a computer for an extended period of time.

3. Ability to lift and carry computer equipment (up to 40lbs)

4. Must be able to work in a low temperature climate controlled computer room.

5. Must be able to travel (fly and drive) to system locations.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

 

Required to be on standby, and work extended and non-standard work shifts as deemed necessary, possibly evenings and weekends.
