CITY: New York STATE: New YorkCOUNTRY: USAEssential Functions (Responsibilities):NBC Universal wants to allow people to consume NBCU content where they already spend time. NBCU has been at the forefront of Viral Syndication evolution and has big plans for Viral Apps leveraging the platform APIs of the social networks like Facebook, My space etc. We're seeking a bright, enthusiastic and energetic team player to lead the architecture, design and development of viral apps. This position is going to be part of a Central Product development group that will work with all the NBCU brands. Provide Dev leadership for NBCU's Social Networking Application Development to team to ensure that the functional needs are met.Contribute technical leadership to the engineering team, including best practices and processes that enable the team to continually improve productivity and quality of products delivery.Reviews specifications to support the application, design, coding and testing of systems.Manages the time to market v/s architectural complexity tradeoffWorks with NBCU Platform team to ensure that existing REST services are leveraged to the fullest extent.Work with NBCU Platform team to ensure that common functionalities are wrapped into the Core NBCU Platform Work with the platform team and the dev team to ensure scalability (tens of millions of page views a day).Develop guidelines for reuse and portability across Social Networking sites like Facebook, myspace Bebo etc.Provide guidance to the Open Social Alliance from a Content/Media Company/App Developer perspective.Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelors degree Minimum 5 years of experience developing Internet applications using the following technologies: PHP / JavaScript / CSS / AJAX/REST APIsMinimum 3 years of experience architecting highly scalable systemsMinimum 3 years of object oriented design experienceEligibility Requirements:Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV through nbcunicareers.com to be considered (note job#:812162).
