Software QA Engineer - HD/DVD/Blueray

DTS, Inc. seeks a motivated and quality driven Software QA Engineer who is interested in working with a creative and talented team of engineers to expand the company’s new Software QA function as an integrated process throughout our entire development lifecycle.

Job Description: 

Help build a new Software QA function by hiring and creating new processes as needed; with the goal of ensuring that DTS consumer and pro audio products (including software, documentation and any associated data) conform to existing and new processes and procedures.  This is achieved by:

 

1. Reviewing all development and quality plans for clarity and completeness.

2. Participating in design and code inspections.

3. Reviewing all test plans for adherence to standards.

4. Reviewing samples of all test results to determine adherence to plans.

5. Participating in all project phase reviews; recording any nonconformance.

 

Effective communication and teamwork are essential, starting from the product definition phase until final release. Other specific activities include:

 

1. Work with R&D, product management, licensing, QA, certification, etc., to create specs for new products or features; and ultimately test from those specs.

2. Software QA of packaging-- Visual Studio project, documentation, etc.

3. Work with R&D and/or contractors on defining and enhancing comparison tools and other utilities

4. Purify coverage, memory and performance analysis, profiling, and benchmarking (potentially comparing with competitive products).

5. Testing of certification licensee streams by creating and running automated regression tests, or via spectral inspections and/or listening tests.

6. Based on R&D input and the performance profiling, create new streams and design new tests

 

 

Qualifications/Education: 

 

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Proficiency in scripting and C/C++

-Proficient with PC, Mac, and Linux platforms and cross-platform development tools

-Knowledge of DSP architectures is beneficial

-College degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent work-related experience.

-2 yrs software QA experience or equivalent (writing test plans, SCM processes like CMMI, etc.)
