Salary:  115-125K plus bonus


POSITION SUMMARY

This division of our organization operates and licenses multiple centers worldwide. It also operates multiple facilities for consideration.
This group oversees all of the online web activities, e-commerce, online attractions and informational sites representing multiple opportunities.


Reporting to the Director of Technology,the Technical Lead Internet Technology Manager will contribute to the development, delivery, and support of Internet products and applications, including product and system design, architectural fit and compliance, resource schedules and delivery milestones, and overall product quality. In addition, this Manager will work with senior management and the Internet Group to guide the evolution of the standards, tools and methodologies.

This position requires the ability to manage a variety of diverse and sometimes conflicting requests, priorities, and activities. Individual selected will need management skill combined with the flexibility to interact with people at all levels, within multiple divisions.


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides leadership in technical design, delivery, and support of  

  products and systems
• Provides engineering support to business units and external

  groups
• Develops and manages effective working relationships with

  other departments, groups and staff

with whom work must be coordinated or interfaced
• Creates and monitors the set of policies that establish standard

  development languages, tools,

and methodology; documentation practices; and examination

procedures for developed systems to insure alignment with

overall architecture
• Assists in evaluating the technology staff
• Identifies and provides appropriate technology staff career paths

   throughout the organization
• Participate in the broader organization, and ensure that, where

  possible, products are created in a platform-centric manner

QUALIFICATIONS BS, ideally in computer science, or equivalent experienceMinimum of 6 years of internet development experienceMinimum 3 years experience in managing technical professionalsIn depth knowledge of middle tier and front end web technology; need to have knowledge and understanding of back end as well.  80% will be front end,  but need to know how to work with back end applications; i.e., login, forms, etc.  JAVA is development language, and understanding good, but no coding required in JAVA.Good expertise with HTML, CSS, AJAX, and Flash (knowledge of, but not necessarily have used)Sound understanding of content management systems.Responsible for technical plans and working with technical web designers imperative (teams of 10+)Hands on management position.  Must understand work and need someone who has come up through ranks to position of technical lead.  Responsible for 3 teams:  1)Primary Corporate Website, 2), 4 other critical websites involving registration and various products company offers, and 3)New Generation project to be discussed.Will manage approximately 15 peopleMust be creative thinkerVendor ManagementWill have some responsibility for operations support: 1) systems operations, 2) systems engineering, and 3) application development team.  This is not primary function, but one of involvement and daily interface or as requiredAgile knowledge valuable – currently have internal life cycle development programResponsible for technical plans and working with technical web designers imperativeAbility to interface with corporate groupStrategic leadership needed i.e.; What is real need of business?Creative thinkingTechnological brainstorming

 

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED

• Expertise in dynamic web page development using JSP, ASP or

  PHP and relational databases
• Solid understanding of e-commerce architecture, connectivity

  technologies, web hosting,

  advanced network protocols, client-server technologies,

  applications development and multi- 

  vendor environments
• Experience with the creation and use of Web Services
• Experience in a large internet, technology or media company
• Success at achieving sophisticated technology goals on-time

  and on-budget
• A comfort level with complex, matrix organizations containing a

  certain amount of ambiguity

 

Notes:  Would prefer to hire local, but any West Coast good.  This is an immediate need and expertise with a mid-sized company with exposure to various functions helpful – any large reservation organization a good background.
