Vice President, Engineering

 

SPEED Channel is seeking a Vice President, Engineering to lead the department and be responsible for the design, installation, configuration and maintenance of broadcast equipment, and the TOC. This position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

 

Responsibilities:

· Supervise the effective maintenance and maximum efficiency of operating systems and maintenance engineering personnel

 

· Ensure proper design, installation and operation of all technical equipment

 Provide expertise, guidance & supervision in all areas of engineering in control room, studio and remotes, OAP & post-production operations

 Administer procedures regarding complex transmission distribution

 Prioritize upgrades of production facility and contributes in the capital budgeting process; interacts with FOX NEO Corporate Engineering & Operations departments

 

· Minimize downtime

 

· Oversee engineering projects and operations, prioritizing projects while continuing to ensure daily work requirements are met and within budget

 Work with Production, and other internal clients to manage workflow to satisfy ever-changing needs

 

· Set and maintain standards of technical quality within the facility through the communication of standards as well as inspection of work; ensure compliance with all FCC standards and guidelines

 

· Ensure the timely communication of the status of project and daily work efforts through written and verbal reports to allow all departments to make informed decisions and plan accordingly

 

· Accountable for the management of supply inventory and generation of purchase orders for the parts needed to repair equipment

 

Requirements:Minimum of 10 years experience in a production and/or broadcast facility including High definition production, post production and file based work flowExtensive knowledge of broadcasting systems routing, signal distribution, installation and repair.  Extensive knowledge of video and audio production systemsKnowledge of computer systems, networking, maintain signal parameters; operate and read all test equipment including waveform monitors, vector monitors and audio distortion analyzers.  Knowledge of satellite, fiber, and compression systems (receivers, dish control systems, encoders, multiplexers, encryption and decryption equipment)Must have solid knowledge of digital production systems including switchers, cameras, audio communication, digital effects and editingAbility to effectively present  complex technical information and respond to questions from all departments and personnel who may not have a technical backgroundExcellent communication and seasoned interpersonal skills; attention to detail, excellent organizational and time management skills are essentialMust be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasksAbility to operate under intense time pressure in a mission critical environment is essential
