CITY: Burbank STATE: CaliforniaCOUNTRY: USAEssential Functions (Responsibilities):KVEA-Channel 52 is looking for an experienced, creative and motivated leader to direct and manage aspects of the News department including long and short range planning and execution of the daily newscast and special projects within budgetary constraints.This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team where quality performance is recognized and rewarded. JOB PURPOSE: The leader will be one who has strong news judgment with the ability to lead and inspire a highly talented news staff to reach beyond established goals and who will perform these functions within the context of Company objectives, policies and procedures. This position will report directly to the General Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Establish the strategic mission and tactical operations of the newsroom while ensuring that the highest levels of journalistic, legal, TV production and promotion standards are maintained. Ensure overall execution of news mission and assume top leadership role. Create strategies for developing digital content across multiple platforms. Develop coverage guidelines for breaking news and sweeps planning, Olympic, political and day-to-day coverage with an eye towards promotion, marketing and demographic development. Create expectations for all aspects of the on-air presentation of content for all shows - regarding style, content, graphics and live execution. Develop show missions and make sure the daily goals and missions are executed. Ensure editorial resources and expectations are clearly defined and met. Recruit and develop news management team. Make hiring decisions and negotiate contracts. Establish performance goals and guidelines. Oversee the evaluation and performance appraisal process within the news department.Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum of five years television experience as a Broadcast News Director, Assistant News Director or similar leadership role with a major market television station and/or Spanish television is required. A degree in journalism is required; with MBA or other advanced degree preferred.ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Must possess thorough understanding of the Spanish Market audience, television ratings systems, promotions, programming, scheduling, operations, etc., a must.
