What it is:We need a person who is able to adapt to and be adept at a variety of IT and application development needs in a small business environment. This individual must be self-motivated and, driven to excel. The scope of this position is very broad so eagerness to learn is a must. Person must excel at problem solving and be willing to embrace new concepts/ideas. Must oversee and manage implementation of functional enhancements to existing business systems aimed at increasing business process automation and user interactivity through unique data visualizations. As well as understand the requirements of new business product development/projects by ensuring that assumptions are challenged, technical proposals are tested and business requirements validated with a view to obtaining the best results for the company in order to achieve strategic objectives and facilitate company growth.
Job skills/requirements: At least 1-2 years experience in application development At minimum must be strong in SQL Server, Access, Excel, Visual Basic, ASP.NET, HTML and general PC maintenance. Writing code in VB or VB.NET Experience developing database applications Writing code in ASP or ASP.NET Writing advanced macros using Microsoft Office VBA Offer technical assistance for all staff Oversee IT training of all staff with quarterly training sessions or as needed Oversee, configure, and maintain LAN server and workstations, familiarity with Linux/Samba a plus Manage data backup, disaster recovery planning, and security policies/procedures Responsible for the performance of any/all functions involved in the development of new applications or the support/maintenance of existing applications. Responsible for ensuring the updates/revisions and testing of major releases is completed in a timely and error-free manner. Love numbers, math, formulas, and have a basic understanding of statistics. Sense of (and appreciation of) humor Enjoy IMing with your co-workers (IMing in 1337 $p3@k, FTW)
Following skills are a plus and all candidates must demonstrate the ability to quickly learn and pick up new skills as needed. In an application development role, this position requires familiarity with existing and emerging technologies and required to monitor, identify, research/learn new technologies, and determine which can enhance the operations/offerings of existing systems.

What to expect in your first year: The first 30-45 days, you are really not going to be able to do much by yourself. Why? You are immersed in an intense learning stage. So, take advantage of one-on-one training before you have to fly semi-solo. You will work closely with the Vice President, CFO, and outside IT consults in determining, designing and implementing various projects. Our products run on a quarterly cycle so once you get past your initial learning curve you will have tough deadlines at the end of each quarter as well as monthly deadlines for implementing product innovations and application updates. During the spring of your first year you will be slammed balancing multiple projects with deadlines that are almost on top of each other. Don’t forget someone is going to call you with an email or computer problem in the middle of all this; this is when your good sense of humor and camaraderie with your co-workers comes in handy.

Training: You’ll be trained primarily by the Vice President as well as our team of human capital analysts. You will also learn about our clients’ business and proprietary software, as well as our high level of standards and the company mission.
Your Team: Has a committed work ethic and loves to crunch numbers and has fun together; they chat, joke & tell stories. Relationships are strong. Your co-workers will probably ask you on your first day what your favorite music group, favorite beer/wine, and/or if you have pets - their names, you know the important things in life!
Hours: This position is salaried full-time position. Project/implementation deadlines will dictate your schedule to a large extent. It may take long hours and/or weekends to meet some deadlines. As we mentioned up front you need to be passionate about what you do.
