The Area Director of Resource Management is responsible for the staffing function for the Area. All resource coordinators/managers within the area will report to this individual. The differentiation as to whether someone is classified as an Assistant Director or Associate Director should be based on the scope and complexity of the area they manage. This role is responsible for overseeing the utilization of area resources, ensuring alignment of resources with the area and firm's strategic plan, analyzing operational results and promoting the development of staff while ensuring focusing on risk management. The Area Director of Resource Management 2 level will generally be expected to handle resource/scheduling management responsibilities in areas that are more complex, have greater scope (in terms of total revenues) and require more extensive relationships with multiple area and national practice multiple leaders to successfully execute on the engagement scheduling/resource assignment management processes than the Area Director of Resource Management 1 level. Responsibilities Can be involved in all of the functions associated with Resource Coordinators and Resource Managers in addition to the responsibilities outlined below. On an area level, provide pertinent resource planning details and analyses to assist in the development of the Area's Annual Fiscal Plan. Assist in the on-going forecast/outlook process by analyzing comparisons between Forecast/scheduling tool/Actual; monitors ability to achieve plan hours and utilization and assists in managing headcount based on client needs and available hours. Proactive in identifying means to improve the resource management process. Liaise with National and peers on resource management initiatives and issues; shares best practices to leverage knowledge firmwide. Develop, implement, and monitor Area's written policies and procedures as it relates to Resource Management activities. Advise Area Leadership on executive assignments. Meet with Partners, Senior Managers and Managers to discuss staffing requirements for their clients, and to gain an understanding of specific engagement needs and deadlines. Directly supervise resource coordinators, provide support as needed on a daily basis regarding staffing issues/concerns. Responsible for performance management of resource coordinators. Delegate projects/tasks as appropriate to enhance developmental opportunities. Train resource coordinators on the scheduling tool and area policies and procedures. Meet as needed with Area leadership to discuss people or client matters, present conflicts/issues and potential solutions to pending items. Must be able to identify solutions to staffing issues based on client, engagement team and personnel variables, and be comfortable communicating and supporting their decision with all involved. The Area Director of Resource Management is responsible for supervising the resource management team across the area. The service line role reports directly to Resource and Production Management (RPM) with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Managing Partner (MP) and the Area People Leader. Approximately 10 to 15% overtime generally required. Travel also required at the Area level. Knowledge and Skills Requirements Strong project management and supervisory skills. Adept at change management, catalyst for process improvement initiatives. Viewed as a trusted business advisor by engagement teams and area management. Strong knowledge of how the firm operates, strategic initiatives and the business.To qualify, candidate must have:college education plus training/experience in a related field preferred minimum of 10 years business related experienceNY-New York
