The Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ: ABCO), a professional and technology services firm serving 2,500 of the country’s preeminent hospitals and healthcare systems, is rapidly expanding its portfolio of Business Intelligence (BI) technology solutions to provide hospitals with clearer insight into their financial, operational and clinical businesses. Through Advisory Board BI Solutions, we aim to empower hospitals to achieve business performance goals through faster, data-driven decision-making. We currently offer tools covering a variety of content areas including revenue cycle management, surgery, supply chain management, and nursing.
The Associate Director/Director of Business Affairs is a new role, created to support the growth of the BI division and the sales and business development efforts. The AD/Director of Business Affairs will work strategically with the Business Intelligence Sales and Marketing Leadership Team to customize contracts and define the scope of our BI services for partner institutions. In this role, the AD/D of Business Affairs will further hone a general management skill set through collaboration with various divisions including product delivery, new business development, operations and the executive team.
Main Responsibilities:
Partnership Initiation StrategyCoordinate with product, marketing, legal and finance teams to scope and set project expectations and negotiate agreements with hospital clients.Strategize with marketing staff to incorporate non-standard business terms into agreements with prospective hospital clients.Define and manage new client initiation process: standard contracts, terms, and process for use by business development teams. Provide market feedback to executive leadership regarding market position on key terms and conditions.
Partnership Initiation OperationsReview and respond to partner comments and edits to standard contract documentsManage reporting of pending partnerships to convey stage in process, key hurdles, and open issuesRegularly meet with marketers and marketing leaders to discuss strategies and next steps on pending partnershipsSet goals for closure of pending partnerships & provide updates to executive leadership regarding closureWork with legal team to resolve any conflicts over legal terms and conditions and to incorporate terms required by legal department
Key Competencies and Skills: Ability to clearly articulate business terms and positions internally and externally, via written and verbal communicationStrong process and project management skill set and organizational abilitiesStrong internal communication skills and ability to work across multiple constituenciesRigorous attention to detail and focus on process management & deadlinesIntellectual curiosity and willingness to learn the key decision drivers for multiple business areas and products Experience with business contracting, ideally in a software or professional services environment (not required)
