Associate Director of Development
JOB ANNOUNCMENT
The American Lung Association of California is seeking an experienced Associate Development Director. The ideal candidate will be an aggressive self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit. Have the ability to establish a presence in the community & bring staff, volunteers & community leaders together to maximize fundraising opportunities. This position will be located in the San Bernardino area.
POSITION TITLE: Associate Director of Development
FTE: 1.0 (37.5 hrs./week)
SALARY: Salary commensurate with experience, plus full benefits package
Job Summary:
Working in partnership with community based volunteers, the incumbent plans, manages and evaluates Healthy Air Walk (HAW) and other assigned fund-raising activities. Applies proven sales techniques to acquire new corporate accounts and maintain existing relationships. Ensures recruitment of key corporate volunteers and year-round servicing of corporate accounts to achieve established revenue generation. The incumbent will serve as a liaison to the communities of an assigned territory and will interact with a broad range of ALA and community leaders and resources.
Essential Functions:
1. Manage a year-round fundraising campaign, building relationships with Healthy Air Walk sponsors, corporate teams and friends and family teams.
2. Provides staff leadership in planning, development, maintenance, and evaluation of all Healthy Air Walk activities of the office assigned.
3. Shares in the overall planning of activities related to office and/or leadership council and operations.
4. Assists in the development of an annual walk fund raising plan, including market potentials, goals, objectives, strategies, evaluation, and cost effective techniques. Monitors the volunteer recruitment, budgets, and implementation of the plan.
5. Serves as the primary staff resource for all HAW responsibilities.
6. Plans, develops, and implements orientation and training programs, and as appropriate consultation on staff and volunteer training.
7. Executes all Best Practices on HAW to achieve net revenue goal.
8. Ensures high level corporate chairperson is recruited for HAW event.
9. Provides staffing services to HAW Event Committee.
10. Serves as the staff liaison between the local event volunteers and local leadership council.
11. Assists in new staff training in the field, as needed.
12. Prepares and recommends an annual budget to support walk plans and activities.
13. Responsible for servicing HAW companies as deemed necessary.
14. Assists in the development of appropriate reports, evaluations, and data gathering.
15. Provides analytical, statistical, and report data as necessary for the execution of the walk activities.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Ø Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Ø 3-5 years successful experience in fundraising or outside sales.
Ø Strong development/sales skills including exceeding goals, appointment setting and closing
Ø Proven track record in achieving fundraising goals or meeting sales goals.
Ø Demonstrated extensive volunteer recruitment and management experience and the ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer partnerships.
Ø Demonstrated above average interpersonal management skills.
Ø Ability to work effectively with diverse populations (economic, cultural, and social)
Ø Demonstrated exceptional team work and leadership skills.
Ø Ability to thrive in a results-driven environment.
Ø Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ø Work from established timelines, strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ø Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and quality
Ø Proven computer skills
Ø Frequent local travel and willingness to work evenings and weekends on occasion.
