Business Analyst III

Position Summary:

The Business Analyst will serve as a liaison between the development team and rest of the organization throughout the software development life cycle. As a Business Analyst III, you will work with project teams to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements.  You will be responsible for helping determine best practices for our organization, and for providing training in business analyst techniques to others.  You will create use cases, functional specifications, user interface mockups and models including UML 2 class diagrams, UML 2 activity diagrams and data flow diagrams.  You will be responsible for system overview and architecture documentation. We are looking for someone who can take a scientific or engineering approach to requirements gathering.

 

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:Work with departmental stakeholders to ensure complete requirements are gathered for new development projectsDevelop and maintain functional requirements for new development projectsPerform process flow and data modeling in accordance with UML 2Writing and editing technical documentation for development projectsDeveloping common templates to be used for all system documentationHelping to define documentation practices and processes

 

This position requires the following skills and experience:BS in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in an OSS environment5+ years of experience with data and process flow modeling.  This should include experience with UML 2.4+ years of experience with Business Process Re-engineeringExcellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with technical writingSome experience with Architectural ModelingAbility to create Data Flow Diagrams, Flow Charts and understand Business Rules & Constraints Proficiency with Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPointProficiency in HTML (for creating web-based documentation)Understanding of software development life-cycle methodologies.  Familiarity with SCRUM and agile software development methodologies preferred.Familiarity with web application architecture and infrastructureAbility to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical usersAbility to work well independently or within a team
