Business/Systems Analyst – Information Technology
POSITION INFORMATION:
The Business/Systems Analyst works closely with customers, business representatives, and other project team members to understand business, design and functional requirements that drive quality technical solutions. The Business/Systems Analyst communicates requirements to project team members verbally and in the form of written and electronic documentation. This documentation consists of items such as requirement statements, UML diagrams, use cases, user interface specifications, software requirement specifications (SRS), and similar documents. Business/System Analysts are challenged to develop and maintain credibility and effective working relations with both customer management and IT personnel in a way that demonstrates an understanding of business problems, as well as IT strategies, issues, and priorities. Ideal candidates are individuals who are forward thinking and seek opportunities to apply technology to improving business processes within strategic system goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Gathers, compiles and analyzes information regarding technology processes and systems.
· Documents business processes, develops design and functional specifications, and produces deliverables related to projects assigned.
· Supports and participates in the daily activities of the project team. Advises and monitors analysis, design, configuration, and deployment of the solution’s components.
· Participates when necessary in overall project management, to the extent of serving as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst and/or Testing Analyst as the need arises.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, in Computer Sciences, Business Administration, Public Health, Health Care Management, or related field and a minimum of two years project management experience. In addition to these requirements the successful applicant must:
· Have strong communication skills
· Have strong people management skills
· Have strong execution and project delivery skills
· Have the ability to work on fast-paced, demanding projects
· Have demonstrated experience working with Agile Software Development methodologies and projects
· Experience in the creation and maintenance of Web-based Enterprise Class applications
· Understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically including SQL Server and the .Net framework.
· Have familiarity with various Microsoft products
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates meeting the minimum requirements above and possessing some or all of the experiences below will be given preference:
· Experience working in a distributed and remote team environment
· Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
· Knowledge of Web User Interface Best Practices
· Understanding of UI Prototyping and the creation of "click through" HMTL customer demonstrations
· Any knowledge of or exposure of Public Health information systems or the PHIN framework will help, but is not required.SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
This position reports to the Director of Consulting Services. The supervisor defines assignment objectives, priorities, and deadlines. The project manager independently plans and carries out assignments, and resolves problems in accordance with accepted practices. Completed work is reviewed for technical soundness, appropriateness, and conformance with policy and objectives.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires no special physical demands. It may involve some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
WORK ENVIROMNENT
The work is performed in an office setting. Position is currently available in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Travel up to 25% time may be required.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary for this position ranges from $70,000 to $120,000 annually depending on qualifications and experience. Also included is a full compliment of benefits including paid vacation, medical, dental, vision, disability insurance and life insurance.
