Communications Coordinator - Employee Benefits
A small communications firm in Avon, CT is looking for a candidate to fill an entry level position of Communications Coordinator. The firm specializes in the development, production and delivery of employee benefits communication services.
The company currently includes 6 full-time employees plus two Principals. The successful candidate will be one member of a production team that supports the Principals and sales person in providing communications expertise and services to large companies nation-wide. Responsibilities are very diverse and hands-on, requiring frequent interaction with clients, writers, designers, printers, fulfillment houses, distributors, video producers and internet specialists.
Clients include firms of all sizes, including Fortune 100 companies, insurance companies, insurance brokers and benefits consultants, to name a few.
The position requires a candidate that is highly motivated, pro-active, can handle stress easily, is dead-line driven, has very strong organizational skills and can quickly assume responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Duties include:
bidding jobs with vendors, developing and managing Action Plans, collaborating with clients and vendors day-to-day to assure that a high-quality, error-free product is delivered within the designated timeframes and established budget, attending client meetings, occasionally out-of-state, editing and proofreading, monitoring, tracking and recording all project-related expenses and providing the Principals with a detailed billing summary upon completion of the project.
Job requirements include:
College degree and/or equivalent work experience. A degree in Communications, English or Journalism is highly desirable. Very strong organizational, decision-making and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Very strong knowledge of PC environment, especially MS Word and Excel. Must be very comfortable navigating the internet, provide research support, maintain databases, and have a high degree of comfort using the computer as a tool for completing required tasks. Ability to work independently, adjust priorities frequently and switch gears at a moment’s notice. Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate professionally and skillfully with the Senior Management of large corporate clients. Exposure to or experience in employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), etc.) is desirable. The ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously. A person best suited for this position must have a high comfort level tracking multiple tasks and handling details.
