Clinical Documentation Specialist, Acute Care Hospital, Lawrence, MA $80 to 110k
The Confidential Search Company is an executive recruitment firm with over twenty-five years of experience placing healthcare financial and administrative managers and specialists.
We have been engaged to conduct an executive search for a Clinical Documentation Specialist, for our client Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA. Lawrence General Hospital is a 182 bed not-for-profit acute care community hospital. It is solid financially, generating excess revenues of 3-4% on revenues of about $400m.
The Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for facilitating improvement in the overall quality, completeness and accuracy of medical record documentation. They will obtain and promote appropriate clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and the Health Information Services coding staff in order to ensure clinical documentation reflects the severity of the patient’s illness and results in appropriate reimbursement. They will educate members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines on an ongoing basis.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced RN with 5 years of RN experience in adult medical/surgical, critical car, emergency department, utilization review/case management preferred OR a RHIA or RHIT with CCS and a minimum of 5 years experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding, DRG assignment and project management.
All candidates will be able to demonstrate knowledge of ECD-9-CM and MS-DRG coding principles and guidelines or willingness to learn the applications as relative to the job. They will have knowledge of federal, state, and payor-specific regulations, policies and compliance standards pertaining to documentation, coding billing, and disclosure of health information or willingness to learn.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a multi-functional team, including physicians, coders, and other members of the patient care team. They must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to successfully function in a fast-paced environment and have experience with data base, spreadsheet and word processing computer applications.
This position is a high priority for the CEO and I am told they will pay for experience. I have been given a guideline of a starting salary of $80k up to about $100k (depending on background and experience).
Relocation expenses will be considered.
