Clinical Liaison

Plano Specialty Hospital is a 43 Bed LTACH located in Plano, TX. We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Liaison to join our dynamic team. 


PURPOSE: To outline the roles and responsibilities determined necessary and essential for the delivery of services and care to the patient population served by Plano Specialty Hospital and defined as Early Adult (age 18 through 39), Middle Adulthood (ages 40 to 59) and Late Adulthood (ages 60 until death). 

 

Conducts clinical field evaluations of patient referrals.  Under the direction of immediate supervisor, responsible for assessing the needs of assigned referral source target markets.  Based on needs assessments, develops solutions that meet identified needs which result in inpatient referrals.  Develops community awareness of hospital services and facilities.  Uses consultative selling techniques to develop new accounts and provides customer service to existing accounts to assure retention of their business, to protect against competition, and to assure that customer service requirements are being met.

 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.0  Patient assessment responsibilities.

1.1 Conducts onsite patient assessments in a timely manner after a referral is given by a hospital discharge planner, case manager, physician, or family member.

1.2 Completes assessment form in its entirety.

1.3 Communicates/consults with staff and attending physicians to determine appropriateness for admission as needed.

 

2.0  Marketing responsibilities.

2.1 Develops and maintains thorough understanding of the territory, assigned target markets, and existing and potential referral sources within assigned target markets.

2.2 Keeps abreast of general economic and business conditions as they relate to assigned territory, target markets and referral sources.

2.3 Schedules activities to identify new referral sources by making 10-15 quality, face to face appointments a week and a target number of 40 total contacts per week including telephone contacts.

 

3.0  Marketing presentations.

3.1 Prepares for and conducts information and inservice presentations (group and individual) to generate new referral sources and meet the needs of prospective customers.

3.2 Accompanies existing and potential referral sources on hospital site visits aimed at securing additional or new business.  Coordinates all details for these tours, insuring that involved departments are aware of and understand their role in planned visits.

3.3 Involves program managers in marketing presentations as a means of increasing credibility and selling effectiveness.

3.4 Requests management's assistance, as appropriate, on closing or customer service calls.



 

 

4.0  Product marketing.

4.1 Develops and maintains thorough understanding of inpatient and treatment programs, modalities, philosophies, goals and objectives.  Understands and is able to clearly communicate admission criteria (financial and clinical) for each program.

4.2 Thoroughly understands competitor strengths and weaknesses.  Differentiates hospital programs and services through the application of competitor knowledge.

4.3 Applies consultative selling skills to promote sales and ensure customer satisfaction.  Analyzes and solves customer/prospect problems by preparing for sales calls, providing solutions to problems, and following up on referrals to ensure customer satisfaction.

 

5.0  Managing accounts.

5.1 Works with appropriate hospital staff members to provide service to existing accounts and constantly strives to increase number of referrals from accounts.

5.2 Works with Administrator to jointly handle customer complaints, problems and concerns and takes corrective action when necessary.

5.3 Develops meaningful business personal rapport with key individuals within all customer accounts.

 

6.0  Keeping management informed.

6.1 Provides management with relevant information and input regarding marketplace developments and opportunities.

6.2 Provides management with full details of referrals lost to competition.

 

7.0  Documenting actions.

7.1 Documents marketing activities through monthly marketing plans and weekly contact records.

7.2 Prepares and submits expense reports in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

 

8.0  Supporting the organization.

8.1 Identifies, attends and represents the hospital at related conferences and conventions as approved by management.

8.2 Participates in appropriate professional community organizations and outreach activities.

8.3 Maintains frequent and ongoing communication with program directors, treatment teams and administration.

8.4 Provides assistance, ideas and input to improve the overall effectiveness of the hospital and marketing team.

8.5 Maintains high moral and business ethics in carrying out responsibilities and duties.

8.6 Formulates and assists in innovative program development and implementation.

 

9.0  Improving knowledge.

9.1 Keeps personally abreast of the latest consultative selling techniques, product development, and/or competitive strategies through self-taught and/or hospital provided programs.

9.2 Attends, as directed, hospital and/or company sponsored sales training seminars and marketing meetings.

 

10.0  Participates in Improving Organizational Performance Plan and inputs into aspects of organization improvement issues.

 

11.0 Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
