Duties and Responsibilities: Procurement is currently looking for a Commodity Specialist/Senior Commodity Specialist to join our team. Based on experience and fit within the organization, the Commodity Specialist will work within a commodity team to develop strategies, drive cost savings, negotiate contracts, and manage the overall supply base. Within a commodity team, candidate will identify the most effective procurement, process, and cost management strategies for commodities assigned, and will manage and develop agreements for these commodities. The Commodity Specialist must be knowledgeable about the markets for commodities and services assigned to ensure that the company receives competitive value. A principal function of this position is to communicate vital market, contract and supplier information to the business units and departments. The successful candidate will be expected to utilize e-business solutions such as on-line bidding, e-procurement and vertical and horizontal exchanges. Other responsibilities include providing work direction to Sourcing Analysts to coordinate material planning, inventory management, and fulfillment of customer requests.
Education and Experience Requirements: Candidates for this position must have strong communication and consulting skills, time management skills, project management experience, leadership traits, problem-solving ability and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated orientation toward diversity and customer service. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. Experience with managing complex projects, as well as a track record of proven results is also desirable. Background should include experience with e-procurement systems, market analysis, strategic sourcing, negotiation experience and contract management, knowledge of contract terms and conditions and materials management concepts and techniques, knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code, state tax laws, vital records procedures, freight terms, invoice terms, and business/corporate objectives. In lieu of procurement experience, experience with project management and/or client relationship management will be considered.
