Position Summary:

The Compliance Data Specialist is the key position responsible for the organizing, managing and trending data for both project and operational purposes within the UWP Compliance Department. The position is a key resource for the entire compliance team, who will depend on the technical and analytical skills of this position.  In addition to these skills, an ideal person in this role will be able to communicate effectively, translating complex data into manageable information.  Good planning for & forecasting of needs will minimize the need for tight deadlines, which occur periodically.  The successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to work with data in various formats and sources and will help define this new position for UWP.

 

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

-Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD, and HCPCS, in addition to knowledge of payer coding, billing, documentation, and reimbursement standards.  Direct experience in a healthcare billing organization preferred.

-PC Proficiency with Windows based software, Microsoft Office Suite products with proficiency in Microsoft Access and Microsoft Project in a network environment; proficient at Internet research.

-Excellent skills with data analysis and presentation such as Excel Pivot Tables, Visio presentations and graphical statistical displays.

-Proficiency with MicroSoft Project and generic project management tools and structured reporting such as PERT charts, Gantt charts, Pareto diagrams, etc.

-Ability to work effectively with physicians, outside parties and management at different sites of practice throughout UW Medicine.

-Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey a positive and professional image in person, in writing, or on the telephone.

-Ability to work with minimal supervision.

-Demonstrated effective and appropriate critical thinking skills and decision-making ability.

-Consistent exercise of discretion and professional judgment regarding confidential and attorney-client communications.

-Self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly organized.

-Ability to follow all UWP policies regarding security and confidentiality.

-Must be a team player.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

-Knowledge of and experience with MD Audit Compliance Data System preferred.
