Controller needed for an excellent organization

Our client, located in Washington, DC, is seeking a Controller. The Controller oversees the day-to-day work of the accounting office, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger. The controller is responsible for working with the appropriate internal departments and external organizations to ensure the proper booking of all revenue and expense accounts.  The controller assists with the annual audit, and tax return.

 

Responsibilitites:Oversee the work of the accounting department including accounts payable, treasury, and payrollManage all general ledger transactions.  Ensure the accurate and timely recording of all transactionsMaintain the general ledger and set up of new accountsSetup of new vendors in APCoordinate month-end and year-end activitiesReconcile bank and investment accounts and all schedules and sub-ledgers, e.g. fixed assets, depreciationAssists the Finance Director with the monthly and annual reporting, annual audit, and preparation of IRS FilingReconcile and support accounting of client’s offices outside of D.C.Other duties as assigned by the Finance Director

Requirements:BS in accounting or finance or equivalent minimum.CPA preferredStrong analytical skills with particular attention to accuracy and details.Strong computer skills, Great Plains accounting software is an advantageGood written and verbal communication skills.Excellent interpersonal, planning, and problem solving skills.Five to eight years accounting experience; supervisory experience is an advantage; proven ability to consistently manage projects and meet deadlines.
