Database Administrator - Level II

We seek a Database Administrator - Level II  for our corporate office in Jeffersonville, IN 47130.  Qualified candidates will email resumes to jpaley@accentonline.com .

 

Summary/Objective

The Database Administrator will be responsible for the company’s database server design and operations.  Responsibilities to include design, capacity planning and the day-to-day administration to ensure consistent data availability, integrity and security.

 

Essential Functions

·         Administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company databases

·         Implement data models and database design, data access and table maintenance codes

·         Resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues

·         Ensure policies, procedures and best practices are in force for database operations, data security and data disaster recovery and business continuity

·         Work with application developers to ensure appropriate data access mechanisms are in place

·         Audit database objects

·         Perform other duties as assigned by manager

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL server to include Transact-SQL, DTS, Stored Procedures, Security, log shipping, indexes, views, queries, triggers, transactions, link servers, Reporting Services, performance tuning and clustering

·         Expert knowledge data modeling, DFD/ERD (Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams), UML (Unified Modeling Language), ODBC, XML, OLAP  and database lifecycle

·         Excellent verbal and written, English communication skills

·         Experience administering databases in a Corporate environment

·         Familiarity with industry best practices and resources for database administration

·         Good business skills to include familiarity with regulatory compliance, writing policies and procedures; and project management

·         Familiarity with software used to manage databases

·         Expert with common office software to include Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access and Visio

·         Oracle knowledge preferred

 

Supervisory responsibilities and accountabilities

·         The Database Administrator’s responsibilities directly impact mission critical business processes.  They will work with a high degree of autonomy and be expected to manage their time and responsibilities with minimal supervision.  They will manage projects. They may directly or indirectly supervise other employees or contractors.

 

Minimum Qualifications

·         College degree required and 2 years of professional, related work experience

·         Applicable education or professional experience may be substituted for a college degree

·         Microsoft Professional Certification preferred

·         Expert computer skills are required

Working Conditions

·         The Database Administrator will work in an office environment

·         Minimal travel (up to 5%) is required.  Travel is within the United States

·         The position will require some local travel, by car, between ACCENT offices

·         The position will require both scheduled and non-scheduled after-hours availability

 

Physical Requirements

·         The Database Administrator will work at a computer for long periods of time

·         The position requires extensive reading from paper and computer monitor, telephone conversations and conversations in person

·         Extensive typing on a computer keyboard and using a computer mouse is required
