Director Development

AAGL is an association of medical professionals dedicated to the advancement of minimally invasive gynecology. Currently, the AAGL has a position open for Director of Development, to manage the fundraising efforts for the Foundation of the AAGL; and to oversee the organization’s public relations and patient awareness campaign. 

This is a newly created position and an excellent opportunity for an entry to mid-level professional looking to expand their career.  Prior nonprofit experience highly preferred.  This position will report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities:
The Director of Development will be responsible for the creation of short and long-term fundraising strategy including:
Annual Giving and Major Gifts
•  Planning and implementation of annual giving activities
•  Identify and cultivate key donor prospects
•  Involve and train Board members in donor cultivation and acquisition of support
•  Implement acknowledgement/recognition system for donors
•  Monitor and evaluate progress
•  Develop and maintain major gift donor relationships
Capital Campaign
• Create capital campaign for amortization of association’s headquarters office-building
• Implement feasibility study along with breakdown of financial goals
• Oversee solicitation process and coordinate production of informational materials
Planned Giving
•  Implement planned giving program and introduce program to the membership
• Advertise program through brochures, newsletter, journal, annual meeting program
Grants
• Research and identify sources of prospective grants
• Grant writing
Public Relations
• Solicit funds annually from corporate sponsors for renewal of PR initiative
• Serve as liaison for contracted PR firm and oversee their efforts
• Monitor progress of patient awareness campaign
• Coordinate production of quarterly newsletter
Board interaction and Support
• Train and engage board members in fundraising activities
Corporate Relations
• Cultivate relationships with key contacts in industry
• Maintain contact with corporate sponsors, inform them of giving opportunities
• Create acknowledgement/recognition system for contributors 

Experience and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive and diverse experience in annual giving, corporate fundraising, planned giving and major gifts campaigns, grant writing, and public relations. The preferred candidate will have nonprofit and membership association experience.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate proven competencies in:

•  Creating and implementing annual and major gift campaigns
•  Grant prospecting and writing- MUST provide sample of writing
•  Development practices, gift tax laws and planned giving vehicles
•  Fundraising software applications
•  Giving presentations and interacting with individual and corporate donors
•  Project management
•  Managing public relations campaigns and media outreach
•  Proven track record in raising funds and meeting financial goals
