Freight Dispatcher

 

Harte-Hanks Logistics, an industry leader in time-sensitive logistics, has a great opportunity on our Dispatch Operations team in Bloomfield, Connecticut for an action-oriented logistics professional interested in growing with our business. This position is responsible for planning and managing the processes necessary to ensure tight cost management and on-time freight delivery.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

· Manage inbound/outbound shipment traffic activities of internal/external warehouses, cross-docks, printers, mail plants, mail logistics carriers and commodity partner carriers.

· Develop and implement key carrier strategies (e.g. dedicated carriers, owner operators, backhaul carriers, carrier development)

· Plan work using leading edge route optimization systems and strategies.

· Negotiate freight shipment transactions with appropriate carrier/equipment providers.

· Assure process compliance for service, cost, small shipment tracking and tracing employees.

· Drive decision process with internal and external customers to resolve service issues.

· Develop and implement continuous improvement action plans for cost dispatcher areas of responsibility

 

All candidates should possess 2-5 years of operational experience in Transportation and Logistics, college degree preferred. Candidates must possess a positive attitude, exercise initiative, be an innovative problem solver and have excellent negotiation and computer skills, to include proficiency in Excel and Word. Additionally, possess leadership ability, be capable of working independently and in a team environment, manage multiple tasks/projects within deadline driven environment while maintaining an acute attention to detail and have superior organizational & problem solving skills.
