This is primarily a consulting position, so substantial travel will be required.
Description:
Project Managers should have a mix of advanced project management, business analysis, technology, and strategic business acumen skills. The role requires both deep project management skills in a consultative context and “street smarts” related to managing projects with a high degree of complexity and many moving parts. They consistently demonstrate the ability to engage in senior level business and technology decision maker discussions related to agility, business value, and end to end technology projects. They are key enablers for other team members, and have a passion for the customer which is demonstrated through professionalism and striving for excellence in all aspects of the customer experience.
The Project Manager applies solid project management and leadership skills and experience in delivering projects on-time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction. They must have proven experience managing all aspects of technology projects from conception to production operations and support: scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, customer expectations/satisfaction, and team management (cross functional, cross organizational). This includes managing multi-phase/ multi-dimensional/ multi-resource projects to conclusion while maintaining high customer satisfaction in a highly matrixed organization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years relevant working experience including a minimum of 2 yearsin Information technology and 2 years managing projects for large,complex customers
- Sales and delivery experience of service-based solutions (management consulting, strategic planning, etc.)
- Product/Technology Knowledge - Hands-on experience in several of the following technologies: project management tools (ideally MS Project), application development, and infrastructure deployment.
- Sales/Presentation Skills - Demonstrates effective selling and business resource skills, effective group presentations, and effective oral and written communication skills
- BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience
- Frequent travel (up to 70%) is an integral part of this job, as are high levels of recognition and visibility.
- Preferred certifications will include PMI’s PMP, MCSx, ITIL, CISSP, CCIE and/or ISSEP.
- The ideal candidate will be both capable and eager to work cross-functionally in Business Analysis roles when engagements can benefit from this versatility. The Business Analyst is the individual who has the primary responsibility to elicit, analyze, validate, specify, verify, and manage the real needs (requirements and functionality) of the project stakeholders, including customers and end users.
Additional Detail
Pre-Sales, Engagement and Project Management:
- Accountable for overall project management time lines, communications and tracking to deployment velocity goals.
- Responsible for interfacing with a plethora of external resources including partners, internal services and customer stakeholders.
- Participate in customer sales briefings as needed and assist in the development of presentations to communicate schedule related criteria.
- Participate in the RFP/RFI processes to determine the schedule and risk/dependencies that exist to enable the sales team to put forth our “Best and Final Offer.”
- Translate business requirements into schedule requirements for inclusion in contracts and/or statements of work (SOW). In some cases Project Managers will also assist in contract negotiations and engagement management.
- Provide weekly project activity and status to customer, partner and CS stakeholders.
Program Management:
- Responsible for maintaining communications & relations with Program Managers and Service Management as needed.
- Serve as focal point for dissemination of project related information concerning customer requirements; including major milestones, dependencies, risks and blackout dates.
- Provide ongoing program management integration with the other PMs - serve as the communication bridge between the customer, partner and CS Service management.
- Conduct brown bags and training sessions to assist others in better understanding how changes in process and use of project management technology and best practices can streamline our business and position us to scale the business.
- Deliver articulate and effective strategic presentations to audiences of all sizes. The role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both political management and expectation management.
Communications:
- Responsible for proactive communications & relationship building with internal and and field teams.
- Responsible for developing messages & communications required to successfully convey project status, dependencies and risks in a language that resonates with the intended audience.
- Responsible for effective communication with accounts team members and management
- Act as a subject matter expert assisting the internal service members in the definition and development of service and/or solution offerings.
