The External Business-to-Business Writer and Editor recommends and develops written materials to communicate key messages about firm products, services, strategies and industry issues to external audiences. Materials may be print or web-based, and may include brochures, white papers, magazine-length articles, speeches, videos, webcasts, podcasts and Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds. Significant exposure to financial subjects and issues is required. This individual will advise on communications vehicles and strategies in collaboration with internal clients and communication consultants. Individual may also assist with developing materials for internal audiences. Responsibilities Partner with internal groups to understand communication needs and assist with communication and promotional strategies. Build and maintain close working relationships with internal clients. Gain the credibility to recommend the best executions and media channels, while educating clients on best practices in communications. Work with the Senior Business-to-Business Writer and Editor and the firm's subject matter experts to develop Executive Insight articles for industries supported by Americas Communications and Marketing (ACM), as well as more general target audiences. Develop print and online deliverables that meet agreed-upon communications objectives. Coordinate the distribution of key ACM thought leadership publications. Conceive, manage and sell various high-level initiatives to firm leadership, including the Chairman's Values Award. Execute and leverage strategies that enhance the visibility of ACM and maximize the use of its campaigns and deliverables. Maintain and update in-depth knowledge of firm products, services, strategies, and operations. Apply that knowledge in recommending and developing communications deliverables. Set and maintain high standards of writing and performance. Demonstrate a high level of understanding and application of principles and practices of communication messaging involving multiple types of media with minimal supervision. Duties are generally varied in scope and are complex. The incumbent will act as a business advisor to clients, project managers, producers, and other project requesters on the most effective approaches and methods of implementation to achieve their strategic goals via the functional areas within Creative Design and Development. The incumbent should possess the ability to: rapidly solve problems and make decisions during the production process, recognize potential issues and make decisions throughout a project that balance the need to meet a deadline and still meet the original requirements of the project. Strong negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to work within the firm's internal approval process, Standard Communication Organization and Retrieval (SCORE) to ensure materials meet firm standards for quality and integrity. Able to create a system to distribute and promote thought leadership materials for key industry marketing groups, while successfully managing multiple approvers with competing needs. May supervise internal and external writing staff on a project basis to develop and implement initiatives that fulfill client needs. Travel or an extended work day is required as needed to meet deadlinesTo qualify, candidates must have:a bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism or a related discipline approximately 10+ years in a business-to-business marketing communications capacity excellent business-to-business writing and editing skills, with deep understanding of communications strategy and broad exposure to multiple types of deliverables excellent project management, client service, team building and interpersonal communication skills to meet tight deadlines ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment proficiency with standard technology including Windows, Excel, Word, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint and Internet familiarity with graphic design knowledge of any or all of the following industries is a plus: asset management, automotive, banking and capital markets, biotechnology, consumer products, insurance, media and entertainment, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, real estate, technology, telecommunications and utilitiesUnited States
