Geologist

Buckeye Mineral Services, founded in 1980, provides professional design, engineering, and consulting services for surface coal mines and industrial mineral surface mines throughout Ohio.  Additionally we provide ecological services such as wetland delineations and hydrologic assessments.  We are qualified to design and prepare all aspects of surface mining permits in Ohio.Buckeye Mineral Services, Inc. is looking for an entry level geologist to conduct hydrologic investigations, wetland delineations, and to prepare coal and industrial minerals permit applications for surface mine sites in Ohio.

REQUIREMENTS:The position requires a BA/BS in geology, hydrogeology, or other applicable natural science.  1-2 years experience in coal and/or industrial minerals mine permitting is desirable.  Individual must demonstrate initiative and independence and be capable of working well with other colleagues and clients in a professional, resourceful manner.  Field work is required to conduct hydrologic investigations and wetland delineations, so individual must be comfortable working outside in all types of conditions.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Familiarity with CAD programs and GIS mapping software Effective written and oral communication skills Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, such as Word and Excel Familiarity with the preparation and execution of wetland delineations and other regulatory ecological evaluation forms beneficial, but not required Familiarity with reading and drafting maps
