ITEC - ERP- Application Enablement - Senior Manager Ernst & Young's Information Technology Enablement Center (ITEC) supports our national Information Technology (IT) advisory practices by providing resources in specific applications and technologies to support the sales, delivery and management of large, complex initiatives for our clients. The Applications Advisory Services organization within ITEC supports our area offices by providing resources that can design, architect, deliver and lead such initiatives. The Ernst & Young Application Advisory Services group advises clients to understand, architect, select and implement the core applications required to run their business. Our focus will be on helping our clients to achieve following key benefits: An optimal applications portfolio and governance structure that aligns with IT strategy and business architecture. Improvement in application performance driving higher customer (internal and external) satisfaction. Cost reduction and better investment decisions for applications infrastructure and services. Reduction in complexity and improvement in agility for applications to support changing business needs and risk mitigation. Application Advisory Services primarily focuses on the design and implementation of business systems using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) technologies including products such as SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, and JDE. These systems address a variety of business needs including: finance and performance management, supply chain management, customer relationship management, product lifecycle management, and manufacturing. Our team typically works with Fortune 1000 clients across a variety of industries including Insurance, Banking and Capital Markets, Manufacturing, Pharma, Energy/Utilities, Transportation, Telecommunications and Entertainment/Media. We currently have career opportunities for a Senior Managers in our Application Advisory Services group. The successful Senior Manager will work with and through the EY area offices to assist clients with a variety of needs. The goal is to support our area offices as they build their individual practices and work to facilitate their clients' efforts to make their business units more effective and efficient. To meet that objective, our service offering includes, among others, the analysis of specific business requirements that will translate into sound technology architecture and infrastructure designs, vendor selection and certain implementation services. Responsibilities This position will support Finance and Performance Management (F&PM) and area IT Advisory Services by providing business development assistance, and as needed, managing project teams through agreed upon phases of the ERP project governance, requirements definition, vendor selection, risk analysis, customization, testing, implementation, and training. The candidate will be aligned to the ITEC Application Advisory solutions group as well as, on a dotted line basis, with either our F&PM group or other geographic/industry organizations. The Senior Manager will work with ITEC senior leadership to establish the Application Advisory Service offerings. EY will aggressively establish and perform many services in this area. At the same time EY may choose not to pursue certain services. Identification of focus areas along with risk mitigation strategies will be a key activity. The successful candidate will assist in developing applicable methodologies, tools, approaches, points of view, thought leadership and accelerators to differentiate EY in the ERP advisory market. These are shared with all EY market facing organizations to provide consistency and common platforms with which to go to market. Additional responsibilities will include: Team with client technology professionals, and/or third party strategic alliances to provide implementation of technology solutions. Demonstrate quality project execution and delivery by successfully monitoring project/program team economics, performance against the job arrangement and budget, and proactively adjust scope, timing, and resources as appropriate and if necessary. Develop people by encouraging individuals to think for themselves and take responsibility for their contributions to the team. Delegate work successfully. Conduct timely performance reviews and provide performance feedback/training. Lead by example. Generate new business opportunities by thoroughly understanding EY and its service lines and actively assessing and presenting ways to apply knowledge and services. Develop long-term relationships and networks both internally and externally. Manage and supervise a team of technology professionals through all phases of the technology lifecycle, including requirements definition, architecture design, conversion and testing. Interact and communicate effectively with finance and technology senior and middle management executives. Qualifications To qualify, candidates must have: a bachelor's degree and approximately 8 years of related work experience; or a master's degree and approximately 7 years of related work experience a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, accounting, finance or a related field (MBA or MS degree preferred) a minimum of 8 years of experience working with ERP systems (SAP or Oracle preferred, Hyperion, JDE and PeopleSoft considered) in business operations, corporate finance or enterprise technology a minimum of 5 years spent in a managerial and IT/business integration role strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills, coupled with a strong interest in further developing and integrating enterprise finance with technology skills a proven track record of developing and mentoring junior resources through the career progression ability and comfort level researching client inquiries and emerging issues, including regulations, industry practices, and new technologies knowledge of leading practices, benchmarking, peer company environments and prior advisory experience relevant to industry-specific finance and technology functions prior consulting industry experience preferred United States
