Immigration Specialist

We are currently seeking an IMMIGRATION SPECIALIST to join our growing team!

 

The Immigration Specialists coordinate the collection and processing of documents required for inbound and outbound immigration to and from the U.S. for all non-U.S. nationals working in the U.S. and U.S. nationals working on foreign-based assignments.  Responsible for compliance to all of GSII’s policies and processes involving U.S. and International Immigration practices.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

- Works with Service Managers and clients to complete work permit, residency and visa documentation

- Ensures all paperwork, including applications for immigration and visas are completed accurately and in a timely manner

- Coordinates with third parties on documentation needs (country specific)

- Obtains certificates of coverage as applicable

- Works with various GSII offices to coordinate with employees in their country

- Communicates with various government agencies for certification of documents

- Initiates case with outside counsel to procure nonimmigrant and immigrant visas

- Collaborates with GE on sponsorship issues

- Processes Visa and work permits where applicable

- Reports immigration tax related issues to the tax department

- Maintains immigration files for U.S. nationals on foreign assignments & non-U.S. nationals on U.S. assignments.

- Updates FSM/Powersource with appropriate passport and visa information

- Reconciles billing invoices from outside vendors for legal, passport and visa services; works with managers to obtain appropriate billing numbers for invoices and determines whether the charge is billable or non-billable

- Tracks Visa and work permits progress on Visa spreadsheet

- Reviews and assigns invoices for Visas and work permits from vendors

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor’s degree preferred.  Minimum 2 years experience in HR or Legal administrative role. 

Excellent customer service skills.  Strong organizational skills.  Ability to prepare detailed reports using proprietary system, Excel and HRIS/Payroll system.  Excellent verbal and written correspondence skills.
