LEAD PAYROLL PROCESSOR

Qualifications:

§ Minimum 3 years experience processing full-cycle payroll

§ Hands on experience processing multi-state, multi location, multi-company payrolls

§ Payroll certification and/or Associate Degree in Accounting/Business is Preferred

 

Responsibilities: 

· Review payroll batches entered off-site prior to final submission for processing.

· Create and enter select payroll batches, review for accuracy, make corrections as required.

· Process special payrolls and transactions as required: i.e./bonus, commissions, incentives, lost checks, re-issue of lost/voided checks.

· Issue payroll checks and run all reports.  Distribute checks and accompanying reports to designated recipients each pay period.

· Work closely with Human Resources on all matters relating to payroll data entry and personnel changes.  Provide key reports to HR for items such as benefits, YTD wages, deductions and taxes.

· Maintain detailed records and files for payrolls.  File payroll reports & supporting documents.

· Process wage garnishments from various sources.  Prepare letters to garnishees.  Process timely responses for garnishment collection inquiries.  Calculate allowable garnish amounts based on garnish order and employee wages.

· Prepare PR tax deposits for processing within deadlines established by federal and state agencies.

· Post payrolls thru General Ledger.  Identify posting errors and make correcting journal entries.

· Reconcile payroll accounts monthly, quarterly and annually for all taxes, liabilities and accruals.

· Assist in filing of payroll taxes to federal, state, and local government.

· Assist with year end processing of W-2’s, prepare ad hoc reports, support internal and tax audits.

 

 

Skills:

· Proficiency with in-house payroll processing on windows based system(s.)

· Proficiency in working with fully integrated accounting software; Great Plains is preferred.

· Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Windows applications: XP, Outlook, Word, Excel.

· 10-key by touch

· Good written and oral communication skills and excellent customer service skills.

· Ability to work in fast paced environment while maintaining high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Ability to work well both individually and as a member of a team. 

· Ability to organize, and prioritize tasks, plan and follow schedules, adhere to deadlines, follow instructions and communicate key progress targets as they are accomplished.

· Ability to identify and maintain confidentiality of payroll information and payroll matters.
