Market Development Specialist

Charles Industries, Ltd is a privately held vertically integrated designer and manufacturer of Outside Plant products for the Telecommunications industry.  We are currently seeking to add a Market Development Specialist to our Corporate Market Development Team based at our Rolling Meadows, Illinois Headquarters.

 

This individual supports the Vice President of Market Development by providing market analysis and by monitoring competition; collecting, verifying, analyzing industry information: analyzing new business opportunities as well as developing investment plans for acquisitions, new product development and new market development.

 

Specific Duties will include but are not limited to:

 

Monitoring the internal and external business environment with the purpose of sourcing, developing and managing new product initiatives, business opportunities and market segments.

 

Monitoring competition by identifying and mapping competitor needs as it relates to market development activities associated with Communication Access Network products.

 

Assist in quantifying new business opportunities based on competitive position and strategic fit to our current organization.

 

Preparing competitive reports by analyzing and summarizing competitor information; locating trends; developing primary competition graphs; recommending changes in product, service, and sales policy.

 

Assisting with the development of project platforms and financial models to forecast potential business growth opportunities utilizing input from cross- functional groups.

 

Tracking and reporting to keep senior management abreast of the progress of departmental activities.

 

Developing business plans for new products and/or services to include formulation of budgets.

 

Assist with the preparation of financial models to develop product cost and pricing structure to support business development efforts.

 

Leading and participating on cross-functional teams with respect to future product definition, development, and commercialization of new products based on market trends and customer needs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.  An MBA is highly desirable.

 

He or she will also have a minimum of 5 years working in the telecommunications industry, including relevant product management, technical marketing experience.  Account management experience is a definite plus.

 

The ability to work independently and produce results across multi-functional organizations.

 

An excellent working knowledge of personal computers, software programs and office equipment including systems such as Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
