VP-Business Development This role takes the lead in Simmons business development in leading the Emerging Market of the Simmons political suite of services. This individual will be responsible for identifying and closing sales opportunities. This position is a “hunter” role. A successful candidate will bring a book of existing potential relationships within the political arena in Washington D.C., with a proven ability to define/ develop/ close business through the whole buy cycle from cold calling to negotiations and follow up. Primary Job Functions:  Strategic Partnering Close working relationship and partnership with Simmons partners in D.C. (lobbyist and political consultants) Leverages deep and broad relationships within the political arena to provides thought leadership and consultation to client around strategic planning, marketing and consumer research Will need to quickly learn the Simmons suite of political products and be able to knowledgeably speak about and demonstrate the unique value of those services Creates a sales strategy for key accounts and executes against plan to achieve targets  Delivering Results Accountable for delivering assigned Total Contract Value (TCV) quota derived from new business opportunities among clients in the political sector (emerging market) Provide accurate forecasting and financial reports/information Proven success in looking at the clients business in the way the client does: ability to illustrate the financial impact of client decisions Effective use of salesforce and other tools to accomplish goals Ability to proactively assess risk benefit to allocate resources efficiently Core Skill Sets Succeed in negotiating and closing opportunities at terms to enhance profit margins Skillful in tough situations; can win concessions without damaging relationships; can be direct, forceful or diplomatic depending on the situation Ability to thoroughly understand a prospect’s business pains, budgets, and decision-making criteria; and managing the process to design and present solutions to match prospect’s business pains Demonstrates effective, articulate and professional communication and advanced presentation skillsRequired Education/Skills: i.  Proven track record of delivering against sales promises, on time – committed to doing so going forward ii.  Operates from values of integrity, accountability, respectiii.  Proactive learner: competitive intelligence, client industry and organization specific issues, new internal products and processes Required Experience: · A minimum of seven years sales experience in the political arena with proven new business closing success  · Extensive network of senior level relationships with potential purchasers of Simmons suite of political services· Experience in selling research services a plus  Our company offers: Competitive Salary Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance 401K with immediate 100% vesting Vacation and 10 paid holidays Employee Assistance Program Short-Term and Long Term Disability Coverage Flexible Spending Accounts Tuition Reimbursement Program Business casual dress codeExperian is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
