Project Manager

PennWell Corporation currently has a Project Manager position available.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of assigned projects throughout all phases of the application development lifecycle to ensure the project is delivered on time and according to specifications. A project manager should be a good communicator and well organized. 

This is a technical project manager role which requires understanding of object-oriented programming, analysis and design as well as J2EE application architecture.  This position will need to understand internet technologies in general and participate not only in requirements gathering but in creating technical specifications as well.

 

Responsibilities include:Gather and review requirements and create technical specifications.  Properly set and manage expectations through active management of scope, change, issue and risk management.  Create and manage project timelines, milestones and scope. Anticipate and resolve any problems, bottlenecks or scheduling conflicts.  Establish and maintain good communications with customers on project issues and concerns.  Review, update and report project performance to management including resource constraints, conflicts, or client concerns.Maintain a log of issues and resolutions and document and resolve any customer change orders.  Assess resource requirements for assigned projects and coordinate these requirements with the Manager to determine staffing levels.  Manage multiple projects of various sizes concurrently.Generate and coordinate test plans and monitor Quality Assurance testing.Other duties that may reasonably be required in conjunction with the post.

 

Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in related field preferred, work experience may be substituted5+ years experience in a similar role in a mid-size to large corporate environment

 

Skills and knowledge:Strong, independent leader with at least five years of experience in leading multidisciplinary web development teams to build applications or customize products as required.Must possess the ability to develop positive working relationships with external and internal customers, team members, and other Information Technology groups.Ability to identify risks and issues proactively, and drive creative solutions.Well versed in the basics of project management (estimation, project planning, resource planning, issue management, risk management, change management, communication)Strong interpersonal skills.Must possess excellent analytical skills, with the ability to read, interpret and develop technical specifications, use case scenarios, test cases, and software requirements.Good understanding of object oriented design concepts and a wide variety of traditional and emerging Internet technologies, environments, and communications including but not limited to Java (JSP/Servlets, J2SE, and J2EE); JavaScript; Cold Fusion; XML; HTML; CSS.Extremely professional communication and organizational skills.Excellent client expectation management and negotiation skills.
