Public Health Analyst – Environmental Health
POSITION INFORMATION:
Serves as a consultant which involves providing advice and assistance to State and local governments & to various public, non-profit, & private entities on program & administrative matters relating to the development, implementation, operation, administration, evaluation, & funding of public health activities; or, conducting studies & performing other analytical work related to the planning, development, organization, administration, evaluation, & delivery of public health programs; or, other similar public health program work. Positions in this series require specialized knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, & techniques of administering environmental health programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supports, organizes, and facilitates community wide meetings
· Maintains communication with multiple community coalitions
· Coordinates consultant activities and projects
· Writes press releases and maintains project websites to keep public informed on projects.
· Supports grant writing activities
· Researches and reports on latest trends in environmental health
· Gathers and organizes information on problems or procedures
· Analyzes data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding
· Documents findings of study and prepare recommendations for implementation of new systems, procedures, or organizational changes
· Provides detailed analysis and recommendations for programmatic activities within the environmental health field
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, in Public Health, Community Health, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Engineering or a related field. In addition to these requirements the successful applicant must:Have 3+ years of experience in evaluating some combination of food service establishments, on-site wastewater systems, private water systems, solid waste management, vector control, and other various activities typically associated with environmental health programsHave strong communication skills Have strong people management skills Have strong execution and project delivery skills Have the ability to work on fast-paced, demanding projects Have demonstrated experience and expertise in working with Microsoft Project
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates meeting the minimum requirements above and possessing some or all of the experiences below will be given preference:Registration as a sanitarian or environmental health specialistExperience working in a distributed and remote team environmentSUPERVISORY CONTROLS
This position reports to the Director of Consulting Services or his designee. The supervisor defines assignment objectives, priorities, and deadlines. The project manager independently plans and carries out assignments, and resolves problems in accordance with accepted practices. Completed work is reviewed for technical soundness, appropriateness, and conformance with policy and objectives.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work requires no special physical demands. It may involve some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items.
WORK ENVIROMNENT
The work is performed in an office setting. Positions are currently available in the Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Atlanta, Phoenix, Washington DC metropolitan areas, as well as other locations across the United States. Travel up to 80% time may be required.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary for these position ranges from $40,000 to $115,000 annually depending on qualifications and experience. Also included is a full compliment of benefits including paid vacation, medical, dental, vision, disability insurance and life insurance.
