Research Associate/Lab Technician II

Responsible for supporting molecular biological analysis as required and to assist in the daily, efficient running of the Almac Diagnostics Laboratories. This includes ensuring sufficient resources are available on a regular basis and to assist with the running of automated laboratory equipment.

General Duties: Perform molecular biological techniques as required, including nucleic acid extractions from a variety of tissues, cells, or biological materials. Assist in the quality control assessment of RNA and DNA samples using Almac Diagnostics approved standard operating procedures (SOPs), including assessing the concentration, integrity, and purity of these samples. Assist with the calibration, maintenance and running of automated and non-automated laboratory equipment. Order, track, and maintain the laboratories with the appropriate lab reagents, consumables, equipment and glassware. Receive and log incoming lab reagents and consumables. Receive, log, store, and dispose of customer samples as needed. Prepare buffers and reagents for laboratory processes as needed. Remove all lab waste to the appropriate storage areas. Assist in manufacturing a high level of housekeeping within the laboratories. Ensure that supporting documentation is maintained as per defined procedures. Identify any non-conformances and take action to document and correct them with the minimum disruption to laboratory work. Assist in the generation, revision, and/or review of laboratory or equipment-related SOPs and other quality documents. Operate at any Almac Diagnostics site. Other duties as may be deemed appropriate by the Supervisor/Manager and that fall within the general remit of the post

Education/Experience/Skills: Bachelors degree in Biology, Molecular biology or related life sciences discipline Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience Meticulous and organized Able to plan and execute own workload Excellent verbal and written communicate skills
