Sales Account Executive - Chicago

Under general guidelines for the Regional Sales Manager the Account Executive prospects and secures clients for AFS Logistics. The Account Executives will represent AFS as we  act as the client’s advocate during the development of solutions; works with operations and pricing groups to develop pricing proposals, reviews proposals with clients, negotiates pricing and advises client during decision-making process. This position has daily contact with customers, carriers and other AFS Logistics’ personnel as it services the clients secured for AFS.

 

This position requires a minimum of 5 years of sales experience in transportation or logistics.

 

Responsibilities: 

 

q Prospects, secure, service and retain clients for AFS

 

q Conducts meetings with AFS’ clients and transportation providers to secure competitive pricing on behalf of the client.

 

q Manages the installation process of installing AFS’s programs for our clients.

 

q Develop and foster carrier (vendor) relationship to enhance carrier performance with our AFS clients.

 

q Review, identify, and negotiate logistical shipping relations with carriers to maximize AFS Logistics profits and clients service.

 

q Resolve discrepancy between carrier invoices and carrier contracts to support Accounts Payable activities.

 

q Obtain client credit application and performs collection activities as needed.

q Supplies and maintains management reports to indicate status against expectation.

q Strong Sales presentation skills

 

q Ability to deliver effective communications and the business experience to obtain client’s commitment and agreement to proceed

 

q Demonstrated negotiation skills

 

q Demonstrated organizational skills

 

q Innovative in problem solving

 

q Computer Literate with MS Office software – Outlook, Word, and Excel

 

q Discipline to work effectively with a minimum of supervision in a unique entrepreneurial environment

 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

q Bachelor Degree or equivalent preferred

 

q Five years of direct transportation sales experience selling LTL (Less than Truckload), Truckload, International or Small Package services.

 

q Experienced with LTL carrier class rates and contract negotiations

 

q A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relations with C level decision makers

 

q Solid network of contacts in the transportation industry
