Introduction to Ernst & Young's Industry Sector Organization Our industry sector organization provides an opportunity to better identify sector-specific accounting, auditing, financial reporting, and other issues to supplement and leverage our resources in the National Professional Practice organization. The firm has identified and created 13 Global Industry Centers that are leveraged by all practitioners in the firm to serve our clients. Each center is led by a Global Sector Leader (SL) with support from a core staff, including the Sector Resident (SR). Primary Responsibility of the Pharma Sector Resident The primary responsibility of the Sector Resident is To work with the Sector Leader and Professional Practice to enhance the quality of our service delivery and to help reduce risk and To work with Professional Practice to identify and to communicate accounting, auditing, and other issues. May assist in the consultation process to determine if a broader communication on the topic to other professionals serving the sector is warranted and, as required, may issue communication on technical and other issues Key Responsibilities Assist Engagement Teams to ensure their understanding of technical issues and the firm's position on each. This individual will help the engagement team summarize the issue and communicate the issue to the Pharma network Working with Professional Practice leadership to determine whether guidance should be issued on interpretation of issues, regulations and policy. May also assist in developing risk profiles for the client continuance process and contributing to sector specific knowledge on risk, controls, and audit procedures Actively working with and monitoring the activities of the Accounting and Auditing Standard Setters and Regulators. As a result, will be able to anticipate potential issues and help the firm provide timely and thoughtful guidance to our clients and client serving personnel. May also be called upon to review new authoritative literature created by the accounting and auditing standard setters and regulators (FASB, SEC, PCAOB, etc.) and anticipate issues that will likely require implementation or interpretive guidance to be provided to Pharma's clients and client serving personnel. The Pharma Sector Resident works with Professional Practice in reviewing the SEC staff's Comment Letters for registrants (both clients and non-clients) in the resident's sector. The SR reads the correspondence in an effort to identify key areas of focus of the SEC staff and works with Professional Practice to prepare a summary of the review along with the general nature of registrant responses, for distribution to the Sector Leader and Professional Practice, who will determine how to communicate the results of that review more broadly. Working with the Firm and Other Knowledge Resources to ensure that they are being fully leveraged by the sector. This may include assessing training needs, developing/reviewing materials, contributing to newsletters and repositories, etc. The Sector Resident works with the Sector Leader to identify topics to be discussed and summarizes the minutes of all Pharma network calls. The network is formed by a group of partners who serve the Pharmaceutical industry's priority or other significant accounts, and other partners working exclusively in the pharmaceutical industry.. Working with Financial Services Practice EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS, AND CERTIFICATIONS A minimum of 10 years' experience in professional services, preferably Big 4. Four + of those years working with clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Degree in Accounting Master's Degree desirable. Active CPA license NJ-Iselin
