Our client is a trusted source for insightful information on stocks, mutual funds, variable annuities, closed-end funds, exchange-traded funds, separate accounts, hedge funds, and 529 college savings plans. With operations in 16 countries, they currently provide data on more than 250,000 investment offerings worldwide.


YOUR POSITION:

Our clients’ Business Development Consultant position is for individuals inspired by change, challenge, and creativity and who have a passion for working directly with people. The Business Development Consultant sells their financial software platform and other productivity solutions to the professional investment community (e.g., financial advisors). A successful Business Development Consultant will have a thorough understanding of solution-based selling, the ability to cultivate client satisfaction, and the skill to upsell products and services. This person will work in a fast-paced, autonomous, and high-risk/high-return environment. This is a remote position. Approximately 30% of your time will be dedicated to meeting with clients within your assigned territory.

The Business Development Consultant must generate revenue for our client and other related products by effectively managing a sales territory and selling activities. To accomplish this, you will establish client relationships, uncover client needs, and creatively assemble solutions to meet those needs with the product offerings. A thorough knowledge of our product portfolio is critical, as is an understanding of how our products work together to achieve business goals. Key characteristics of a successful Business Development Consultant include: the ability to develop a rapport with customers and prospects; excellent phone and in-person communication skills; effective listening skills; the ability to think on your feet and handle objections; an appropriate sense of humor; natural curiosity; enthusiasm; and confidence. It is essential that this person get up to speed quickly with our products and internal sales support systems.


REQUIREMENTS

Candidates must have a bachelor`s degree and two or more years of field/phone sales experience using a consultative approach. One to two years of direct exposure to the financial marketplace will be helpful, as will comfort working with technology and software.  Experience selling to Financial Advisors or experience being one is preferred!  Candidates must have strong analytical and negotiating skills, as well as proven success in achieving sales targets and growing sales. Time management skills, self-discipline, self-motivation, and the ability to keep up with a fast-paced work environment are all critical.
