Job ID: 12874Position Description:GRAINGER is currently seeking qualified candidates to join our growing team as Sourcing Specialists! This position will support our Sourcing Operations team and have extensive contact with our customers and potential vendors in order to secure the desired product for our customers.The Sourcing Specialist must have excellent communication, outstanding customer service skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately. The Sourcing Specialist's major purpose is to have overall responsibility for locating source, and providing a quotation for product/services needed to support customers MRO needs. They will identify alternate sources and product/service solutions in support of business objectives and researching and recommending alternate solutions in support of customer objectives (i.e. lead time, functionality, cost savings, etc.). The Sourcing Specialist will apply appropriate margins to sell prices to our customers through negotiations with suppliers.Major Job Responsibilities include:• Makes purchasing decisions based on supplier strategy, customer need and business policy.• Identify sources for product/services in support of customer requests in a timely manner.• Provide exceptional customer service by proactively contacting customer to resolve issues and to improve opportunity success rate.• Maintain productivity measurements including number of quotes completed per day, cycle time, average mark up and buy/quote ratio.• Communicate performance expectations and provide qualitative feedback to supply chain regarding performance of suppliers.• Support gross profit goals by negotiating and controlling product costs, lead times, freight terms and purchase quantity requirements.• Maintain existing supplier relationships and initiate potential new supplier relationships• Support team members on product and source inquiriesPosition Requirements:Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in a business related field, or three years related experience.• APICS and/or CPM certification preferred.• 1 - 3 years in purchasing, preferably in an environment where products often have no current supplier source.• Commitment to ongoing education of product, commodities and supply chain knowledge.• Demonstration of strong organizational skills and analytical skills.• Demonstration of negotiating, verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to assist and support the QMT by assisting with documentation of processes.• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.• Ability to proactively identify problems and recommend solutions.• Demonstrated ability to learn multiple software applications quickly (Intellimatch, SAP, Lotus Notes).• Must work efficiently in a team environment and able to participate on teams cross-functionally.The Sourcing Specialist position has primary responsibility for initial product and/or source selection which impacts the order cycle time, customer price, delivery lead time, process cost and ultimately customer satisfaction.
