We are looking for a Strategic Investment Analyst - Corporate Development in our PMI Capital Corp department in Walnut Creek, Ca. The Strategic Investment Analyst - Corporate Development evaluates and manages strategic activities to strengthen the company’s capital position, optimizing strategic investments, focusing primarily on financial guaranty or international entities. He/she leads project-focused corporate development efforts related to executing strategic transactions and is a key contributor to managing the project throughout all stages of the transaction in order to achieve optimal value for PMI.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Analyzes annual business plans, operating results and other reporting materials. Interprets information, provides credit enhancement analysis, and communicates results to supervisor and senior executive management team to facilitate corporate governance and oversight .
2. Manages industry market research and tracks the operating performance of specific competitors. Performs analysis of credit enhancement trends and growth opportunities.
3. Analyzes the strategic and financial benefit of corporate development opportunities which could include joint ventures and partnerships, divestitures, or acquisitions. As new opportunities are explored, develops financial models and projections, conducts scenarios of valuation analysis, and assesses profitability.
4. Manages the project planning of corporate development initiatives that may arise from any of the above. Creates comprehensive project plans, assembles and coordinates project teams representing multiple functions (Legal, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Investor Relations, Human Resources, and Portfolio Analytics) across the organization to complete due diligence and implementation.
5. Creates and participates in the delivery of presentations for senior management and/or external parties, such as regulatory & rating agencies, to outline corporate development initiatives and gain the necessary approvals.
6. Develops analysis for varied special projects which could include supporting one or more PMI subsidiaries in business planning, corporate development, and capital management.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge & Skills:
1. General knowledge of mortgage insurance with specialized knowledge in financial guaranty or international credit enhancement industry.
2. Knowledge of investment banking, securitizations, bond issuance markets and rating agencies.
3. Detailed knowledge of the life-cycle of a business with experience transacting in the midst of quickly shifting industry dynamics.
4. Strong financial/analytical and corporate development skills.
5. Strong communication (oral & written) and presentation skills. Ability to positively interact and build on-going relationships among all levels of the organization, particularly with executive management
6. Excellent analytical ability and capacity for independent judgment in ambiguous situations to correctly identify risks, weaknesses, and drivers of success in business models as well as project plans.
7. Excellent leadership, organizational, decision making, and influence skills to manage diverse project teams with stringent deadlines.
8. Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Visio.
Education & Experience:
Required knowledge & skills would typically be acquired through an MBA with 5+ years experience.
