ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The successful candidate will be the main vehicle for continuous improvement is via LEAN methods, especially employing the Rapid Improvement Workshop process as developed in the Supply Chain.
The main focus for the LEAN effort will be with field-related supply chain issues, especially including those with a strong connection to workforce management.
This person will be required to support short-term vacancies on-site as outage
and vacation support, as well as the process work overload from the field in conjunction with normal Support Team functions.
Demonstrated ability to understand and quantify complex customer needs, and participate in sourcing cross-functional needs.
Perform various systems (e.g., SAP) tasks, including creating purchase orders for materials and services.
Proactively develop, recommend and implement business cases and solutions.
Anticipate needs of the plant/vendor and accept ownership to find a positive solution.
Provide input and alternatives into the sourcing process.
Conduct market research and analysis using qualitative and quantitative skills that will result in recommendations to supply chain leadership and managers.
Responsible for the timely collection, collation, analysis and distribution of marketplace research data to enable FirstEnergy to gain and sustain a competitive edge in the industry.
Provide the interactive link between corporate transportation, procurement, internal and external customers and suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Has basic understanding of material controls processes and requirements and an understanding of ERP applications such as SAP.
Solid oral and written communications.
Has at a minimum a 2 year associates degree with a concentration in Purchasing, Materials Management, Business, Computer Science, Engineering OR the equivalent work experience.
Track record of process improvement and delivering results.
Buying experience, including contract and program execution.
Must possess strong organizational skills to support LEAN processes.
Must have exceptional group-communication skills to be able to facilitate process-improvement workshops, and train other sites with best-practices learned.
