Job Description:

Start-up Company in Las Vegas is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer responsible for the development of a new system that delivers Video on Demand (VOD) to the retail market. Selected individual must be knowledgeable in the MAC and IBM platforms with expert knowledge in Linux, Window XP and Vista operating systems.

 
Responsibilities Selected individual will work in a development engineering group and be responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating of electronic and other hardware systems. Determine design approaches, architecture and parameters. Define specifications for critical components of the system. Select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Design electronics for system control and data acquisition. Write firmware to support the design. Develop functional algorithm/procedure for data collection and system integration. Develop code to verify and refine the data processing algorithms. Develop testing-diagnostic software, identify and fix hardware problems in complicated electronic system. Conduct system tests and evaluate results. Responsibility also includes coordinating team work with software developers.



Qualifications

 

Position requires a Masters degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or related field and at least 6 years of relevant work experience. PhD is preferred. Hands-on hardware design experience is required. Must be experienced in system architecture, analog and digital board level hardware design, modeling and functional simulation. Must have proven system design experience in video transmission systems to include AVI; MPEG-2; MPEG-4; DivX; Xvid and other video file formats.  Must have a deep and proven knowledge in implementation of system PCB, including signal integrity issues. Must possess strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to make C/C++ programs and knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP protocol would be preferred. Extensive experience with USB, and other external data transmission protocols. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.

Educational LevelBachelor's Level Degree with at least 7 years of experience, or Master's Level Degree with at least 6 years of experience, or Doctorate (Academic) with at least 5 years of experience.
