Job Overview:
This position requires the creation and editing of documentation of Technical Data, software, hardware configurations and Policies and procedures as they pertain to existing software as well as developmental software. The Technical Writer must research, analyze, create, edit, and proofread this data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, specifications, white paper, case study and others.
These functions are performed in two main business areas – proposals and software development projects. The Technical Writer may participate in the full life cycle of a project. Participation ranges from attending meetings such as those to determine software requirements, system requirement specifications, software specifications, end user documentation, and any other required documentation. Technical Writers must have a working understanding of systems analysis and design concepts.
The Technical Writer must understand the objectives of each project and define any documentation requirements. All technical documentation must be accurate, complete, and must meet editorial and government specifications as required. Documentation must adhere to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. The Technical Writer must also participate in establishing style guidelines and standards for text and illustrations.
Applications are online call center related applications, Digital Recording System, Interactive Voice Response system, Computer Telephony Integration and many others. Technical Writer will have access to and interface with the application developers as well as others throughout the organization for assistance and answers to questions. We are willing to train and provide support in several areas specific to the application(s). Target audience for written material (the readers) will include information technology personnel, call center managers, and business decision makers as well as possible I.T. Auditors.
Responsibilities:
• Technical writing is a major aspect of this position
• Create, develop, write, edit, revise, and maintain technical user manuals, application papers, product descriptions, case studies, and data sheets
• Develop and oversee a knowledge database with technical solutions for our product
• Identify possible product usability improvements
Requirements:
• The Applicant must provide writing samples demonstrating the ability to perform the job functions outlined above.
• Minimum 2 years of Technical Writing experience
• Proficiency is required in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and PDF.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
• Skill in writing original material and in synthesizing, organizing, rewriting, refining, formatting, and editing rough-draft material while maintaining the integrity of the ideas
• Knowledge of various types of documents and ability to determine which types of documents best meet the needs in particular circumstances
• Ability to articulate to a variety of audiences (in both verbal and written communications)
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work on several projects simultaneously, and meet assigned deadlines
• Systems development and support experience is definitely a plus.
• Bilingual - English and Mandarin Chinese would be a great plus
