Vice President, General Counsel

Western Wats, a leading survey research company, is seeking a Vice President, General Counsel.  As the VP General Counsel, you will be responsible for anticipating and circumventing legal issues relative to Western Wats and the survey research industry.  This may be a full or part time position depending upon the applicant’s capabilities and/or interests.  In this role, you will counsel decision makers on legal rights and responsibilities.  The successful candidate will advise management on current and new laws and regulations, human resources law and business contracts.  Further, they will negotiate key contracts and potentially represent the company in civil cases.



The successful candidate will work closely with Western Wats senior executives and possess several distinguishing personality traits.  These include: consistent principal based conduct, assertiveness, excellent flexibility, confidence, charisma, creativity and strong cognitive skills.  Further, you will possess the ability to think strategically while making tactical contributions.

 


Qualifications:

 

§  JD from an accredited law school.  State license required, UT preferred. 3-5 years of law firm and/or in-house experience.Proficient in drafting and negotiating business contracts.Ability to work with senior management regarding corporate strategy and analyzing legal risks.Subject matter experience with law and regulations relevant to survey research such as:TCPA, GLB, HIPPA, and COPPA.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team environment.
