Location: prefer VP to be in St. Louis, MO but not necessary

Date Position Open: Immediate
The VP of Business Development will report directly to the President of the Pharmaceutical division. The primary objective will be to provide leadership and direction to the Pharma business development sales team in North America and Europe, establish goals and objectives for the sales team and recommend new approaches to effect positive continuous improvements in revenue growth. Ensure proper positioning and penetration of the company’s diagnostic and imaging services into pharmaceutical companies. Ensure positioning with large Pharma at all levels from senior management to technical and operations executives. Must understand how to drive relationships into field operations and planned revenue opportunities. The VP will manage North American and European sales team on a daily basis.
Responsibilities include:
Identifying Opportunity – Working with marketing, field sales, identify large opportunities within the above marketplace.
Opening doors – Position the company to deliver services pitch for new opportunities.
Trail-blazing - Identify key contacts to build new business and cultivate current customers.
Fine-Tuning – Work with internal teams to fine tune the product for near and long-term product positioning. Recommend and implement procedures and sales strategies to improve BMS’s competitive position in US and Europe.
Closing deals – Work with customers and Sales to land deals.
Relationship Building – Establish opportunities in current customers for long term sales growth.
Future Building – Continue to keep company on the leading edge by working with key contacts. Ensure that key performance measures related to sales effectiveness are achieved.
Development – Recruit, hire and develop team. Provide ongoing training and development to Bus Dev team. Manage team to obtain a high level of performance from team.
Strategic planning – develop, maintain and execute a business plan to deliver revenue at or above quota.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates for this position must have at least 10 years pharmaceutical industry background with in depth knowledge of the industry.
10 plus years proven track record of managing business development teams and driving excellence and success. Must possess a strong business acumen and solid leadership skills.
10 plus years experience in excelling in the player/coach role.
4 year degree in health and science, management, business field or related experience.
Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
Experience and ability to progressively coach and mentor employees.
Must have a high level of intellectual, professional and interpersonal ability to communicate effectively.
Candidates must possess a global perspective and experience working worldwide.
Ability to empower, develop, and excite people and help them achieve goals.
Unquestionable personal and professional integrity.
The candidate will be a collaborative professional with a resilient, take-charge approach, who is results-oriented. No politics or hidden agendas.
