The Web Manager has overall responsibility for the PMI websites, including user interface design, direct email template design, design and development of microsites and landing pages. The incumbent works closely with the technology team, the Marketing department, our internal customers and contractors/vendors to grow and enhance our web presence. He/She manages one web designer within the Marketing department, establishes operational plans for the team and operates under generally defined goals and objectives determined by the Director of Marketing.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Directly participates in guiding the long-term vision for company web presence and helps identify the information needs of all relevant internal constituencies.
2. Oversees the design, development, and content maintenance of a variety of web projects related to the US Mortgage Insurance website. This includes but is not limited to seasonal web promotions, ongoing website management of enhancements/defects, as well as web traffic analysis.
3. Monitors the overall information needs with the help of subject matter experts, and presents new ways to express PMI’s value proposition online. Responsible for major redesign efforts including creative briefs, wireframes, usability research, organization of site architecture and specification development and working in collaboration with Information Technology (IT), content providers, product development and other subject matter experts within the organization.
4. Supervises team to effectively manage changes, prioritize work, provide scope management, and ensure necessary resources are available as well as analyze trends in website usage.
5. Ensures quality and consistency of content on the website and develops and maintains standards where necessary.
6. Keeps abreast of emerging practices in web design and management as well as changing web technologies.
7. Actively plans for upcoming work and takes a pro-active approach to problem-solving and communicating information back to both marketing management as well as IT teams where applicable.
8. Manages staff to accomplish results through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and rewards and recognition.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS Knowledge & Skills:
1. Broad experience with web analytics tools to monitor and report on the success of the all web properties, online initiatives and continuously optimize each initiative and the overall online mix to maximize awareness, understanding, and online performance.
2. Expertise in User-Centric Design principles, web design applications, languages and techniques, such as Dreamweaver and proficiency in hand-coding with PHP, JavaScript, ActionScript, CSS, Flash, HTML, and XML.
3. Bottom line, results orientation and self motivation.
4. Excellent decision making ability to solve complex problems, using seasoned analytical skills in a fast-paced environment.
5. Strong project and people management skills to lead teams to accomplish results.
6. Strong computer skills, specifically Mac based systems.
7. Solid communications (written & verbal), interpersonal relations and team collaboration ability to effectively deal with employees, senior management, sales, web technology team and outside vendors.
Education & Experience: Required knowledge and skills would typically be acquired through a Bachelors degree in graphic design, multimedia or related field. At least 7 total years of related experience is required, with 4 years in web application development and 3 years managing people.
