JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE: Web User Interface Designer

 

BASIC PURPOSE:

 

This development position is responsible for creating high performance and engaging front end web components for on-line applications.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Designs and specifies user interface based on user and business requirements, information architecture, and branding requirementsDistills simple solutions from complex problems.Works with visual designers on user-centered product development methodology aDesigns interactive navigation, controls and iconsCreates navigation trees and flow chartsMeets and exceeds deadlines.Maintains strong interface designs, sketches, mockups and functional specifications that showcase the process of UI design phases, from concept to release. Works on multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently.Works with digital media creation and manipulation (such as audio or video editing). Works with Agile based practices and with an environment that supports and promotes short iteration cycles with frequent releases.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

 At least five years UE design experience and in front end web design and development.At least 3 years experience designing interactions for applications (not static web content sites)

 SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

 Strong communication skills and a penchant for staying organized Detailed knowledge of fundamental design principles and disciplines that affect typography, color use, animation, composition, use of space, weight etc.Strong knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Visio, and Dreamweaver, Silverlight, FlexKnowledge of capabilities and limitations of appropriate technologies and approaches including AJAXExperience integrating with .NET backends Expert knowledge of Object Oriented ProgrammingExperience working with Scrum, Agile, Test Driven Development, Continuous IntegrationUnderstanding of and experience with XML/Web ServicesAJAX, HTML, CSS, XML, XSL, Javascript, AJAX related frameworks, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash Self-motivated, solution-oriented, willing to work in a fast paced software development environment.Advanced-level knowledge of prototyping tools such as Flash is a plus.Knowledge of Web 2.0 interaction paradigms and technologies is a plus.
