PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Responsible for the supervision of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Youth program. This includes the yearly execution of the Youth Job Fair, the Governor’s Summer Job Hunt and to ensure the Youth Council is maintained according to Workforce Investment Act guidelines.

 

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

•Training and supervision of all direct reports

•Responsible for the annual preparation and execution of the Adams County Youth Job Fair, working closely with Business Services staff to procure employers, other county agencies and resources

•In collaboration with the Youth Council Chair, facilitate monthly Youth Council meetings

•Participation in the selection of agency staff as appropriate

•Ensure all Workforce Investment Act Files participant files are maintained according to state and federal guidelines.

•Ensure youth participant rates are monitored on a quarterly basis and working with the WBC Administrator to modify participant numbers as needed to meet expenditure plans

•Assess and monitor workloads of case managers to ensure equity

•Work closely with the Manager of Career and Education Services, the Information Systems Coordinator, and Quality Assurance staff to insure timely and accurate data entry for report purposes

•Prepare timely responses to audits, monitoring reports, and reviews

•Participate in the preparation and administration of the WBC annual budget

•Conduct annual performance appraisals for all direct reports

•Work with all direct reports in the creation of, and subsequent monthly/quarterly monitoring, of SMART goals

•Make recommendations for operational and/or program modifications to the Manager and WBC Administrator

 

REQUIREMENTS

•Experience – Three years of increasingly responsible management experience is required. Proficient in the use of the following computer programs, including but not limited to; MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and the Internet. Experience in Workforce Center environment and working with youth ages 14 – 21 is preferred.

•Training – Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration or a related field.

•License or Certificate – None required.
