Accounting & Budget Analyst  - Long Term Temporary Assignment

PQ Corporation is a global enterprise operating in 20 countries.  PQ is a leading producer of silicate, zeolite, and other performance materials serving the detergent, pulp and paper, chemical, petroleum, catalyst, water treatment, construction, and beverage markets.

We have an immediate opportunity for an Accounting & Budget Analyst to work for us on a long term, temporary basis through April 2009 potentially at our site in Malvern, PA.  The Accounting & Budget Analyst will be responsible for these tasks; monthly close process, journal entry and account reconciliations preparation, holdings company trial balances, fixed asset accounting, analysis and report preparation and assistance with external audits. 

Job Duties:

·         Responsible for certain functions of monthly close process.

·         General US GAAP accounting responsibility in various areas such as accruals, prepaid assets, fixed assets and others.

·         Generate and maintain organized workpapers supporting certain general ledger accounts and footnotes to the financial statements, as necessary.

·         Responsible for fixed asset accounting and coordination of domestic capital projects.

·         Responsible for maintenance and evaluation of all domestic leases.

·         Assistance in providing various financial analyses and adhoc management reports. 

·         Coordination of all domestic and international budgeting activities. Coordinate all sales forecasting and valuation activities for the budget and ProForma cycles within SAP.

·         Assist in coordinating the annual external audit process and preparation of various analyses required by the audit staff.

·         Assistance with financial statement footnotes and tie-down of numbers to supporting workpapers.

·         Share in responsibility for completion of all government and various other filings (sales & use tax, census filings, manufacturing reports, business licenses, corporation annual reports).

·         Present recommendations for continuous improvement of processes surrounding financial systems.

 

Education and Experience requirements:

 

·         Minimum BS Degree in Accounting.

·         2 – 4 years of private industry or combination of public accounting and private industry experience.

·         Minimum of 2 years of SAP FI/CO-PA or equivalent user experience in a corporate setting.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to speak in public settings.

·         Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and a focus on internal “customer” satisfaction.

·         Ability to work well as part of a corporate accounting team.

·         Strong aptitude for reporting systems and desire for process improvements required.

·         Ability to exercise sound judgment and take initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations.

·         Must be highly disciplined, results-oriented and self-motiviated.

·         Strong organizational skills. Ability to organize complex projects, manage multiple tasks, and meet established deadlines.

·         Excellent general accounting skills, thorough working knowledge of US GAAP standards, and ability to research accounting issues effectively.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word), and SAP R3.
