Management of Intellectual Property Cases for post-patent BASF agrochemical products – As part of AP’s post-patent business defense, the business services associate must develop legally defensible monetary values of BASF’s past R&D investments for given business cases that are compensable but no longer protected by exclusive rights.  The valuation is made in a very complex and diverse environment involving business cases that may have been developed by BASF and/or other registrants, utilizing a network of internal and contracted scientific resources in US and international locations.  The associate must negotiate financial settlements with generic competitors within the highly technical and FIFRA regulated environment of crop protection R&D.  2. Maintain expertise on country (US and CA) and state rules and regulations as they relate to data compensation - support APN business development by actively researching federal and state government rules and public legal cases regarding data compensation regulation and trends such that, as appropriate, they can provide the business with financial impacts of changes in the data compensation environment.3. Provide support to APN business with regards to competitive intelligence of the generic market as well as other defined business opportunities- maintain knowledge of BASF portfolio and the business trends of key generic companies.  Evaluation of competitor trends and directions involves searching through diverse information sources, and focused interactions with other BASF personnel in the field sales/tech service, as well as in the marketing areas. 1. Agrochemicals product development and registrations– minimum of 8-10 years experience  in a technical (e.g. biology, formulations, chemistry) and/or regulatory area of agrochemical development with developed knowledge of FIFRA regulations and requirements, and a minimum educational requirement of an MS degree preferably in a technical field (e.g. biology, chemistry).  The lack of a MS degree may be compensated by additional years of experience.3. Third-party business negotiation – negotiation with competitive or other external parties (e.g. regulatory authorities) focusing on topics related to contractual agreements, or in the example of authorities, technical negotiations4. Product/Project Management – including the responsibility for the leadership of project teams across multiple business disciplines5. Agrochemical business acumen – knowledge of generic agrochemical marketplace as well as the BASF crop protection product portfolio.
