Attorney Job Title: AttorneyDepartment: LegalLocation: Corporate BASIC FUNCTION: Provide legal support to TPI business groups for the warehousing, packaging, storage and transportation of products, feedstock and other material as needed, promote the recovery of freight-related claims, and monitor local, state and federal regulatory activity relating to TPI’s transportation-related functions, and provide legal support to TPI’s business leaders and prepare and/or present related oral/written testimony and/or comments as necessary. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote informed decision-making as to contract terms by providing legal advice to TPI’s business groups as to the following contracting activities: rail transportation, railcar fleet, railcar storage, product warehousing and packaging, terminal operations, motor carrier, marine and air transportation. Ensure that TPI’s commercial objectives are accurately represented and exposure to liability is minimized by preparing requests for proposals, related documentation and contracts for TPI’s transportation-related contracting activities. Participate in contract negotiation as needed. Ensure that TPI’s commercial objectives are accurately represented and exposure to liability is minimized by advising the business groups as to legal issues arising in daily transportation-related operations, the interpretation of existing contracts, and the resolution of disputes. Protect and promote TPI’s interests by providing legal support to TPI’s Sr. VP of Governmental Affairs as to local, state, and federal regulatory developments relating to TPI’s transportation-related activities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree/Juris Doctorate. Law licensed issued by the State Bar of Texas. Experience in the areas of transportation and admiralty law preferred. Participation in transportation-related legal and industry organizations and regulatory hearings. Occasional travel to plant sites and offsite professional and career development activities.
